I saw the first episode on CBS last night. Wasn't bad. The rest of the series can only be seen on CBS streaming service, so I probably won't be watching the rest of the season.

Yeah that's what struck me. They have the Klingon designs from the Abrams/Pine movies. I guess it's set in that timeline?

The show is set 10 years before the original Star Trek, so yes, it's set in the same timeline. I saw the first one and plan to continue watching on CBS All Access but haven't signed up for it yet. I'm really annoyed that it's being shown this way! But I'm a long time Star Trek fan and really want to see it. Just sorry that it isn't available for everyone to see.

I enjoyed the first episode but I won't be watching the rest because I think it's stupid to pay for cable to get CBS and then CBS charges a fee to use their app.  Of course all access is paying for the show so they are entitled to run it but it certainly will be less people watching this since it's only catering to those with a prescription.

I'm a TOS fan and was underwhelmed by the previews, but the show actually really impressed me. I just hate you need to pay to see the rest. Such a shame 'cause it's really good.
