It is soup time again, Meijers and krogers have been having sales. It's time to stock up.

I bought tomato basil, ham & bean, chix and wild rice, beef barley and others.

I never buy soups at the store because they are high in sodium. Sodium acts as a preservative to prevent spoilage sold for most canned goods. It’s much healthier to make them from scratch at home.

I don't have the time or patience to make my own soups. There are a couple of organic soups I like that are low in sodium. my favorite is garden broccoli and I add more veggies. :rainbow: :pumpkin: :peace:

I love soup, both homemade and some canned. The other day I got my husband to make egg drop soup with extra corn, and it was out of this world! I also love broccoli and cheese as well as potato soup.

Sunday is soup day in our house, once cooler weather starts.  We alternate, husband makes it one Sunday and I the next.  It's fun to find new recipes each week.  We have discovered some that are now our favorites.

I love making soups. While I'm an ok cook, my soups get rave reviews. Around the holidays I get requests for my split pea and ham.

I don't buy them that much because of the sodium content, however in the winter I may keep a few cans of  noodle; I sometimes like the cream of celery on  baked chicken.

I make  most of our soups unless I can get one that is low in sodium like tomato soup. Today I am making a veggie soup that will have noodles with it tomorrow . But the basic stock  has  just been turned off after 8 hours and now to hurry up and cool it off, by putting it in a  large pan (makes 8 quarts). If I am lucky I will be able to bring home a couple of quarts to  have at home. one to eat and one to freeze for later.
