Fema taking their time helping Hurricane Harvey Victim
« on: September 22, 2017, 11:01:02 am »
:(People are getting on T.V.  taliking about how Fema has not come to certain area of Houston and
surrounding counties to help the people who were affected the by hurricane. Especially in small
towns like Beaumount and Port Author, but the mayor assures everyone that they will get help.
But that it will take a little time to get the situation handle. I just hope and pray that everyone gets
the help that thet need including my family.

Let's hope so... everyone needs help and there is no time to argue. But in this world it seems people prefer to fight rather than help and support each other.

The rescue people are doing the best they can do.  Everybody thinks they are the ONLY one who needs assistance.  People need to realize there are at this point I would say millions of people who are needing assistance.  It's like the freak that saw the lineman in Taco Bell and threw her drink on him and screamed at him.  He had just worked 12 hours.  He done his part for the day.  They can't just make the power come back on.  Maybe the wench needs to do something to help herself.  I would bet she is a welfare recipient and has never worked a day in her life.  This world don't owe you nothing.  People need to realize that.

A few years ago a tornado (unexpected) touched down in my town.  Power was out in most of the county.  The electric company employees were doing the best they could to restore power.  But it took a while and some people were without power until the next day.  And of course people were on Facebook screaming how they should have power by now.  I say get off your lazy butt, get educated, and learn how to restore power yourself.  Then you can volunteer to help these people when there is more work than they can do in 15 minutes.

Fema probably may run out of funds before they get there. That's why Trump was pushing for congress to pass an emergency fund to help take care of the people who are affected by the disaster.

FEMA is stretched thin with all of the disasters currently hitting. They are also short on resources because many people felt that their mandatory flood insurance was not mandatory and lenders were remiss in not force placing the flood insurance at a higher premium. Houston/Puerto Rico neglected to fully enforce insurance requirements. Colorado is good at force placing insurance: you can pay your one thousand dollar a year premium voluntarily or you can have a forty eight hundred dollar premium added to your escrow, watch your payment climb sky high and either be foreclosed upon or realize that you are adult enough to pay for something that was spelled out in your security agreement and explained during your closing. Florida is good about enforcing mandatory insurance and better prepared for the forces that nature brings.

Lots of FEMA positions were not filled, because the president thought it was saving a lot of money.  A lot of the hot shot fire crews were not filled for the same reason.  There are a lot of federal jobs that have not been filled because he thinks it is saving so much money.    Maybe the cabinet people and his family should take commercial airlines instead of government aircraft to save a little money.  Maybe he should stay home instead of taking vacations and already campaigning are our expense to save money.    Places were flooded  that were never before in a flood plain area, so everyone was not told that they needed flood insurance.

With wide spread hurricane damage in Texas, Florida, and now Puerto Rico, FEMA is way overloaded. Situation is bad in so many places :(

I had  a co-worker who became a regional director for FEMA years ago.

I remember thinking, finally they have a good and honest person in there.

But FEMA is big gov't.  Slow, sluggish, misappropriations, and many other adjectives.  Things have not changed. Just big gov't and red tape.

No one claims that. We are in serious debt.

Who is claiming this?   America is 20 Trillion dollars in debt... we are broke.
Individual states are on the verge of bankruptcy.... California for example is 400 billion in debt - we don't have funds to pay gov pensions so they took our gasoline taxes to fund roads to fund pensions, then increased the gas tax & car registration fees. Gas tax will be apx 76 cents per gallon.

The fires in Northern California where over 40 people died, over 3000 structures burnt needs FEMA assistance as well.... at one point the fire was 100 miles wide.

FEMA hires locals to assist in disaster recovery, the government doesn't keep thousands on retainer for emergencies.
