Ideal Sleep Conditions
« on: September 06, 2017, 10:09:34 am »
I have gotten so I have to have certain conditions to sleep optimally, which means falling asleep somewhat easily and staying asleep.  This has all occurred since I have gotten older.  Now I have to fall asleep with the TV on (volume fairly low and on a timer to turn off), cool (like around 55 degrees), my pillow that I am used to, quiet aside from the background noise from the TV (so no snoring or people getting up and down), and no drinks past 8p.m. (because then I have to go to the bathroom at least twice).  Isn't getting older fun?  I used to be able to sleep like a baby!!!

I have to have a fan on. No exceptions. If I'm out of town sleeping in a hotel, I download the white noise app but it's still not loud enough for me to get a good sleep. Nothing like my good old super loud blast fan and cancels out ALL noises. That's about my only requirement.

Couldn't you bring a fan with you to the hotel and plug it in?

I just need a dark, cool room and I'll sleep like a baby.

I like the windows open, even a crack if cold, and a fan going to block out the noise.

That makes me a happy camper/

Interesting because those are all the same conditions I need in order to sleep.  The having to get up  to use the bathroom is the most annoying.   Such is the fact of getting older.

I sleep with the fan on. I have sunshine block-out curtains. I drink sleepy time tea at bedtime, yes you get up to pee. In the summertime, I have my ice block packs wrapped in a cozy cloth, you should try this, it helps aches and pains.

My daughter bought me one of those white noise machines to use for for sleeping at night and I just love it. It doesn't use as much electricity as a fan that I used to rely on for a constant low droning sound and it doesn't take up nearly as much space in the room either.y

I love it when I wake, my body is totally relaxed and I am feeling great because of it.

There are "sound soothers" (white noise makers) that you can get at the drug store. You can turn them on really loud to drown out all noise. And you can choose rainstorms, waterfalls, etc. or whatever is your preference.

That's what I use when I'm out of town and sleeping in a strange place.
