Having surgery in two days
« on: September 20, 2009, 10:26:06 pm »
Has anyone else had their gallbladder out?  I'm going in on Wednesday to get mine removed.  I'm not too worried cause they are doing it with lasers now not cutting me open.  I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me what the recovery time was like for them.  I have a small child and I'm worried about that.  Thanks so much!!

I've never had a procedure like this done, but I wish you the best and a speedy recovery!

Nope, but I got hit by a car 6 months ago, and had to have 2 surgeries, sometimes the surgery is better than the other pain you have to face, I had a bone stuck in a nerve in my shoulder and it hurt constantly tilll they did another surgery on me. The doctors usually know what they are doing, so be confident, it will be over soon.

i havent had it done but i hve a niece and a causin that both had theirs out and also a friend and i think as long as you listen to the dr and stay dwn the first week and don do anything and mean noting you recover a lot fast but if you get up the next day then you are down off and on a lot more for at least 3  weeks so my advicebut toys nd movies in your room and just veg out with the kids they will love just being with mom and you get your rest but don over due it

I had mine taken out when my son was 6 mos. old.  They made 4 incisions, but I know mine was pretty swelled up.  I felt crappy for about 24 hours and then I was able to do most things.  Hope it goes well and you have a quick recovery :)
