I'm so broke I can't even pay attention.

We often have yard sales because we needed to get rid of all the stuff we had.  But yeah I am always looking for ways to make money.

I am in the same boat with ya'all. My husband was laid off almost a yr. Got a job jan of 08. his yr raise was due jan 09 but in dec they were told they are putting a wage freeze in effect--NO RAISE>sucks
i had to leave my part time job to stay home with our kids cause I cant work around his hours. Maybe when my little one who is 4 goes to school next yr i can get something part time. but no one is hiring. everyone is cutting hours.
and it looks like the wage freeze might stay in effect next yr so it looks like no raise again.
we rent the house we live in and were hoping to buy one soon but that idea isnt going to happen any time soon.
we are about $10,000 in debt. keep getting letters saying our interest rates are going up. ya cant get anywhere on paying the bills. his ot is pretty much non existant at this point.
thank god my land lord has not raised our rent or we would be screwed. i am not going back to work full time and paying for day care cause that just doesnt make sense. day care would take most of my paycheck so what is the point of workin. besides than my 14 yr old would have to be home alone all summer long.

I think most of the country is feeling the crunch no matter what income level they are a "member" of. I know my family has been hit hard. So far, by the grace of God, we have been able to pay all of our bills every month, but we have really cut back on a lot of things. We haven't eaten name brand food in months because I have been shopping at Aldi. At least we are eating, but it isn't as good. We are in a frenzy right now because next week bills are due again and the vicious cycle begins.

I do feel like this time of struggle has been positive for many. Some people I know are relying more on others, even if it is just a shoulder to cry on. Relationships have grown stronger because of the dispair. I have helped my friends, when I really didn't have it, but I felt they really needed my help. We all need to try to find the good that comes with the bad. A positive attitude goes a long way. I know it is hard to find good in this economy, but look hard and you will find it. This country will come out of this strong as ever, but it will take time and patients.

I'm personally broke, largely because I'm a grad student and it's kind of part of the job description to be poor (plus I may well have "starving artist" in my future, since I'm a wannabe novelist), although I'm not really feeling it yet because I'm still living at home. >_< I feel bad about that sometimes, but right now I honestly can't afford to move out--I lost a lot when I spent a semester in England last year, I've had trouble finding a job, and I just had to cough up more than $1,000 on tuition/fees and car repair. I get an okay stipend being a teaching assistant, as well as a good tuition waiver, but it's not helping much yet. I didn't make much from the yard sales we did this summer, but I have made a decent amount on eBay...although I've been having a few problems with that, too. I sell all my textbooks on Half.com when I'm done with them and usually manage to get back a decent amount of what I originally spent (I buy all of them online to begin with--dealoz.com is a great site), and I'm hoping to pick up some kind of WAH job, although I haven't found anything much yet. Doing various paid surveys and sites like FC, too...I like IMReportCard, where I'm nearing cashout.

On the plus side, I live in Alaska and I'm going to get my PFD in just a couple weeks. *dances* That's going to be a huge help...

Tell me about it, I got hit by a car, while walking, the driver left me there to die, I went to the hospital, sustained a broken leg, broken foot, broken shoulder, had 2 surgeries, had a high paying job before this happened and I can not get anything, but hospital bills. I obviously cannot go back to work for a long time, now that is broke.

:( The economy is so bad for some...that is what makes them broke. Save, save and save...and try to find some ways to earn extra money.

With the broken economy in full swing, I have never had it better. There are people desperately combing the Internet every day looking for ways to make extra money and I get referrals for my money making programs by the dozens, including Fusioncash. I had my Internet Income over $6,000 a month when fate took it all away, but now since May I am back up to $2,000 a month already and it gets better every week. You have the Golden Goose at your fingertips, don't cook it for dinner! This is the United States and opportunities are all around you online. If you can't find the ones that work for you, GET SOME HELP.

I know, I have been out of work since the end of June, has foot surgery 9/2 and have to have another operation 10/1. I am waiting to see if my disability is approved and am living on $123 per mo from the state and food stamps. I finally qualified for Medicaid. Believe it or not, the person I live with thinks  I should give him some of money I gey each month and he won't buy any food beyond what my food stamps pay for. Also, this is a man who outright owns his mobile home and truck and receives a pension/plus works part time. Trust me, I know.

yes for sure. Instead of yard sale it is the *bleep* shop it got so bad I had to get rid of jewelry I had for years. Mending the clothes you have cause you can't get new ones. Washing them in the bathtub cause you don't have any extra money to go to the laundry mat. Car is falling apart but can't afford to fix it and can't afford to get rid of it. Having to pick and choose which bill is being paid and which will hopefully not get shut off for too long. It is hard we all need to hang in there

I hope things get better for everyone...  it's tough these days.  I've been out of work since February and that hasn't been from the lack of trying to find another job.  We all just gotta hang in there and stay positive/have faith, something will eventually turn up.

Im broke and a single mom of four kids. I work a full time job. I have no savings. I have horrible credit because of medical bills (I have a heart condition that requires a pacemaker) I have no family around. I have nobody to call on if something bad happens. Talk about scary, I live in fear of something breaking and not being able to replace it but somehow get through it one day at a time.
