That stinks.  I have BOA and have never had any problems.

I have an account with them only because it swallowed up another bank I was affiliated with beforehand. That also means I'm grandfathered into the system so any free services I had before is still honored to do this day.

I have about a dozen bank accounts-all opened because they pay or have payed a bonus in the past. For example, if I put two hundred dollars in an account for six months the bank pays me fifty dollars. This is usually worth several hundred dollars a year. Bank of America does not have a brick and mortar presence in Colorado and does not usually pay bonuses for opening accounts so they have not been in my sights. Most big banks don't offer bonuses. Wells Fargo does not (my wife and I have had an account with them for over twenty years-she feels comfortable with them). JP Morgan Chase paid me two hundred dollars to open an account with them and the account is free as long as I have  five hundred dollars in direct deposit going in or make five debits per month.

I used to bank with BOA but over the years they keep adding weird charges and "monthly maintenance fees" and there are way too many free banking institutions for me to ever deal with BOA again.
