Overabundance of caterpillars!
« on: June 09, 2017, 03:12:05 pm »
Does anyone else have a really large number of caterpillars?  :-X They are eating up the trees and they just sort of hang in mid air. You can actually hear them eating. They are everywhere!

I haven't noticed too many this year I'll pay closer attention though now that you've mentioned it!

None where I live. Though we have butterflies occasionally flying around.
I would love to have them munching in my yard :)

Haven't seen any at all.. but then I guess it depends on what State you are in and how the weather is where you are :)

We usually have a lot but it hasn't been bad this year because of the weather

I have an abundance of millepedes (spelling?). The black ones. They crawl up the outside of the house and some even get inside. They're harmless and they don't freak me out but it's frustrating.

I also have an abundance of small black spiders in my house. There are webs all over the porch. I think they followed the little red ants that I have a problem with every year. Time to fog the whole house.

This is what happens when you live in the woods.

I never notice them except when I grow sunflowers, then all of a sudden every caterpillar in 10 miles is stripping my leaves. I wish they'd eat up some of our invasive plants instead.

So far have not had them here this year, but the summer  is just  starting. It seems like every year something comes  along and wants to eat up your plants and the garden.  the aphids hit my artichokes this  and by the time I got them under control they had already destroyed a lot of the plants. I try to do it a natural way but it just does not always work.  But I hate to spray poison because it kills the good bugs also. For two years now  out of town they are getting  hit with grasshoppers. Maybe this year they won't.
