Micro Wave Hacks!
« on: May 01, 2017, 11:06:36 am »
Do you know any good micro wave tricks...  I have 2     making the very best soft fluffy scrambled eggs on the planet. Serves 3  Butter a glass micro wave safe bowl  wisk  6 large eggs with 1/2 cup milk till smooth add salt and pepper  micro wave 2 min and stir and repeat  every 45 seconds for about 3 more min or till cooked.   And i love Rutabagas but hate almost killing myself to peel them,  stick it whole on a plate with a paper towel under to catch the wax  micro wave for 3 or 4 min depending on size  :) :) :)  let it cool and peel it with a butter knife !!  enjoy!

I don't have the recipe on hand (but DO know where to find it):  you can make some really tasty peanut brittle candy in the microwave.

Ok the Pirates are losing so I'll  give out the peanut brittle recipe : stir together 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup white corn syrup
microwave on high for 4 minutes     Stir in 1 cup roasted salted peanuts   microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes until light brown   add 1 tsp butter and 1 tsp vanilla  blend well microwave for 1 to 2 minutes more  syrup will be very hot   add and stir gently 1 tsp baking soda until light and foamy   pour mixture onto a lightly greased cookie sheet  cool for 1/2 to 1 hour
break into pieces store in tight container   Yield 1 pound    my microwave is hotter so I reduce the times by a minute each
Very easy and sooo good

This sounds really good and easy, what are you using to cook in ?  As to not boil over ? and on the peanuts are they reg or dry roast ?

I use dry roasted   the bowl is 1 1/2 quart microwavable bowl  I use one with a spout makes it easier to pour and handle

I don't use a microwave, for health reasons.  I would rather cook my food slowly.

Microwave bad.  Grilling bad. Baking and boiling good.

I don't use the microwave much...when I do, it's usually to heat something up.  I don't really care for the food heated in a microwave though, I think it just tastes better if its heated just about any other way.  I only use it if I'm in too much of a rush to warm it up another way....

I love corn on the cob but hate removing the husk and silk. Take an ear of corn in the husk, cut off the end and put in the microwave. I forget how long. I do it until it steams lol Anyway, when it's done, remove the ear from the microwave and slide the ear out of the husk. It's cooked with no silk attached.
