Breast Implant for Graduation?

There was a story on the news last night saying that more and more parents in the state of Utah are giving their daughters who are graduating from High School a graduation gift of plastic surgery - specifically, breast implants.

How shallow is that?

Yeah, I believe in self improvement but are these girls planning to sell their bodies as prostitutes? 

Does larger *bleep* make them more empowered and confident in their lives?

Health is one thing.  Vanity is another.

I know, it sounds like I'm being judgemental but I think....

If I had a daughter that age I would want her to reevaluate her priorities.

What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are similar to yours.
Those mst be rich parents paying for plastic surgery, so the demographic of the report must be limited.  Hopefully, or it is a sad indicator of priorities.   I'm not against plastic surgery enhancements, but right of high school sounds crazy...

Sign of money, but I would never do that even if I was some sort of millionare....I had a friend from high school who lived in a million dollar mansion, and she got them when she was seventeen. Not for graduation, but just because.
As an adult, I would not do it to myself either....so, no kid of mine is changing their body like that. No one in my whole extended family has any of the plastic surgery. Unless it's medically necessary.
I think the whole plastic surgery is cool, as a sign of wealth, but I like my body. And I think most other people are beautiful too. Why ruin God's gift.

I'm thinking those grads are either homely, or not so bright. Their parents probably figured their grads were going to NEED those "knockers" to get by in life.... perfect gift!

I agree with you 1,000%!!  Maybe these "parents" weren't meant to be parents.  They have to have a screw loose to allow such a thing.  Unless it's medically necessary, there's no way I'd allow my daughter to undergo this type of procedure.  Shallow to say the least, stupid beyond belief on the other end of the spectrum.

Wow!!! My beautiful daughter is graduating from high school this year! I would never ever pay for plastic surgery as a graduation gift or otherwise! These parents need to give the gift of self worth not plastic surgery!

Are You kidding me ?  ugh,,,,,     NO !!!!!!   That is not a graduation gift.  If she wants one of them she should pay for it on her own.    And I don't think that age should be getting one anyway !!!

Have these parents thought about being grandparents? What happens if these implants break? There are horror stories of that still happening, especially if they are in a car accident (not wishing anything on them) while driving. Those air bags are dangerous enough.

What if the kids want to have children and feed them "naturally?" Can they do it?

If I had a daughter, I'd rather give them a practical present that wouldn't harm them down the road. i think it's ridiculous. Plastic surgery is fine when you're an adult and aren't pressured by your peers. I can understand nose jobs but that's about it for the young kids.

Society has become a me-me-keeping-up-with-the-Jones, worse than when I was growing up.  That thing inside the skull is there for a purpose yet so many parents/people don't use it. Things like this make me so mad because those parents are raising another generation that will be just as bad or worse.

Isn't vanity one of God's no-nos (sorry, can't think of the word)?

Here is a funny story my mom told me..... this was years and years ago when a quarter was not useless and you could get something for 25 cents.  She saw a ad in the back of a magazine she was reading as a young girl maybe 13 or 14 that  claimed for 25 cents they would send you a sure fire breast enlargement deal. She showed a friend and they sent the quarter and a self addressed stamped return envelope as stated in the ad...  and watched for the mail man every day so their fokes wouldn't  get the deal .. We laughed our heads off when she told me the envelope showed up and in it was a picture of a guys hand.

they could use that money towards their education, not on personal looks, those parents are too open to have their child talk them into having implants that could possible have health conditions before they get in their twenties.

You can breastfeed with implants. The only problem would be if the nipple loses sensitivity but otherwise there shouldn't be any problems.  Everyone doesn't want children so that's not really a valid reason to avoid it.

Most people have already turned 18 once they graduate high school. If an adult wants to have surgery there's really not anything their parent can do to stop it.  I would rather pay for my child to go to a reputable surgeon to get it done than find some sketchy place to get it done for cheap and end up at greater risk.

If it is what the daughter wants & she understands all the risks involved then who cares, it is her body! Graduating kids (usually 18) are of legal age to do surgeries on their body with or without parents approval.
Why would your first thoughts be her using her new *bleep* to sell her body? I don't mean to come off harsh but that comment itself is shallow.

It is so sad that they are teaching that beauty is all about being FAKE. Its what's inside that REALLY counts. What good are FAKE *bleep* if you have an ugly heart?....JMT!!....I watched youtube last night and I cant believe how these young girls are getting butt implants smh !
