Remember the days that we did not have mobile phones. If we had car trouble or
needed to make a call, we looked for payphones, which means we had to carry
coins at all times or stop at a store and ask for change in exchange for bills, lol.

And more interaction in person! I told my kids once they will never know the joy of going to make a call at a payphone and finding coins in the return slot so your call was free. Loved it!

Yep. Right around the time I got my driver's license, we had phone booths everywhere, and then the cheap crappy phones came out a little later.

I have let my landline go. since i use the cell phone all the time.  At first it was  something i needed to have because of us traveling.  Now it is just easier to use it. I also  make sure i have it at all times in case  my father goes down and i have to rush to the hospital .  Figured the money spent on the land line was a waste.

I have a friend who has a single line land line with no call waiting and its goofy to still be able to hear a busy signal ... and she never knows i called because she has no answering machine,  like the good old days you have to just keep calling.  She refuses to get a cell phone, she is pretty cool and is stuck in the past and will not change.

I have a landline but it's mostly for my mom to use because she doesn't want to learn how to use a cell.  I remember the phone booths also and the pagers.

We have a land line and still use it.   We did see a pay phone at Walmart the other day, was very surprised about that.

If we work from home our company requires to have a landline phone since there are still spots where a cell phone has poor reception.

I have a cordless phone.
I changed phone companies.
I had Centurylink and now I have Vonage, which is hooked up to the internet.
I use my ipad for texting.
cell phones and smart phones seem to be the only kind that work in the event of a power loss.
Even wifi goes down in that case.

Many people have eliminated their landline phones in favor for their mobile phones. Maybe it’s just to save money. The irony now, having a landline phone is a necessity for emergencies if you need to quickly dial 911 for life and death situations. For instance, somebody has a stroke, dialing 911 from a landline, paramedics arrive in x number of minutes because the address of the caller is displayed. It used to be mobile phones are good for emergencies, but dialing 911 from a mobile phone takes longer to track the location of the caller where help is needed.

I have not had a home phone for about 15 years.  I don't miss it at all.

The only people who would call me on a land-line would be someone trying to sell me something, political, or scam.

One fun thing though, my best friend when I was young only had a 3 digit phone number.

We still have a landline but it was up to me it would be gone,  Husband is worried he will miss an important call from someone like the doctor.  Told him to start calling others to have it changed to his cell

I still have a telephone with an answering machine; just in case, I decide to request a basic land line.  There were things I liked about it.  The cell phone I have is enough, for now.

Have a great day!
