Yes, I am going to watch the Oscars, though I hope the actors won't get political like they have on other award shows recently.  I have seen most of the pictures nominated for best picture and I think La La Land will win, but I personally think Hidden Figures should be the winner.  Great picture!

No, most likely not. I haven't kept up with awards season in years. I was just having a conversation with my sister and partner today about how they're dumping movie after movie on us like never before, and most of them don't have the kind of substance that we would like. The majority of it is comedies that look too mindless, romantic comedies that are too generic, or remakes or sequels. I want some quality psychological thrillers, foreign dramas, etc.! They need to bring back the good stuff! Girl on the Train was very good, and A Cure for Wellness looks interesting, but other than those....

I watch the Oscars every year as a ritual.  I just started watching the Golden Globes.  I really don't like when the actors get all political in acceptance speeches but I watch anyway.  It will probably go to Hidden Figures, at least it should go to Hidden Figures, that having made the most in the box office among its other nomonies, but I don't think one can rule out La La Land, Fence or Manchester by the Sea.  Since they probably will give it to Hidden Figures for best picture, I am going to go with Damien Chazelle for La La Land or Kenneth Lonergan for Manchester by the Sea for best director.

I will be watching the Oscars at my neighbor's house tomorrow. I have seen three of the nominations: Manchester by the Sea which had some exceptional acting but was very depressing; La La Land which was a nice escape; and Hidden Figures which had a good story land but lacked somewhat from the acting standpoint. Fences with Denzel Washington looks good and should be up there as does Hacksaw Ridge and Lion. Emma Stone had a brilliant scene in La La Land in which she was trying for a scene in a movie and had to act like she was receiving disturbing news over the phone. The dancing was mediocre in La La Land but I think that it will end up getting the Oscar if Fences doesn't get it. I do not believe that the Oscar stage is the place to air one's differences with regard to Politics regardless of how bad the situation is nor do I feel that the NFL should allow players to use the field as a venue for their perceived oppression.

I've never watched the Oscars. So no I don't think I will start this year. I think they run a little too long. But I'll go onto imdb later and see who won what.

Nope. I am not a moviegoer. I hardly watch TV at all. I’m glad I gave it away when I moved because that thing is bulky and heavy.

I still haven't decided if I'm going to watch the Oscars.I'm usually not a big fan of awards shows,but I might tune in to see how many of the winners use their speeches to make political statements.We all know somebody is going to,it's just a matter of how many.I don't know who will win any of the awards but this will probably be the most political Oscars ever.
