I answer,,  if they proceed to talk I put the phone in front of the TV.  Then I block the calls from my phone after they realize I'm not listening to their crap.  I have over 100 blocked numbers on my phone.  It is getting out of hand.  And now they are calling my cell phone.

So many of the calls are phoney scams. They go out and act like they have a business and will get a bunch of similar numbers then set it up to call people. And all it does is just dial numbers all day. If and when someone answers and then hangs up it will just switch to another number to call you because now they know you are home. I don't know why the phone companies don't check to see if it is a liget business or not. But  guess all they want is the money.

Yes they are very annoying! I agree, even registering on the do not call national registry prevents them from calling, I just do not answer unless I recognize the number or person calling!

Caller ID is really useful because you do not have to answer the call if you do not recognize the number. Unsolicited phone calls are awful because the person on the other end is just doing their job if it is a legitimate business. But if you get so many of them, you cannot help but to be rude to them to get them to stop calling. So it is better not to answer at all.

I have a cell phone and I always get a recorded call, almost daily, from a company that tells me that I'm approved for a pay day loan that I applied for. I haven't applied for any loans. Does anyone know how to get rid of these calls? I've added myself to do not call lists in the past.

You don't get rid of them.  And these calls do not have to abide by the do not call list.  They are coming from another country and the phone numbers are spoofed a lot of times so you don't even know where it is coming from.  Apparently at least according to the last administration there is nothing that can be done if it comes from another country.  Guarantee President Trump will change that.  But right now he has bigger fish to fry.  All you can do is not answer your phone and then block the phone number.

If they call and ask can you hear me ok, hang up. It's an even bigger scam because if you say yes, they change that yes to you have accepted their whatever they are hawking. This was on the National news

ATT use to do this or it was someone who claimed to be ATT and they changed your service.

Since I've started doing survey sites, this problem is a constant.  If I don't recognize the number as it comes up and it's not in my zip code, I just don't answer.  For those that I occasionally answer, you'll notice a pause and the definite sounds of a call center in the background.  I just immediately hang up or tell them not to call me again.  Sometimes they still do...from another number. That's when I tell them I'll never be interested in their product/service.  I also put my ringer on low volume at times.  After a while that I just don't answer, I notice many give up.  Basically, all the important callers in my life leave a voicemail when they don't get me.

Just curious how doing the surveys would make you get phone calls?  None of the surveys I do ask for a phone number.  I have noticed that although they say they are not trying to sell you anything I have received solicitation in the mail from insurance companies and it was from one that I was asked if I would consider.  Well no, I wouldn't.  Because our local agent is a butt.

Calls like that, I block.  Most of them are telemarketing calls and if I don't recognize the call I don't answer.  I get calls like that everyday. :bad:
