Big cars...little brains
« on: September 11, 2009, 03:31:49 pm »
I don't know what it is...why people with the least amount of brain cells insist on driving the biggest cars. Case in point, just this afternoon, while picking up my daughter from school. A man in a Expedition, I think, so I don't know models nor makes, it was big. He's apparently lost or just looking for the perfect spot to park. Anyway, he's on a cell phone, making U turns everywhere and anywhere. In front of a High school, minutes before dismissal on a Friday at that! He nearly cut off a motorcycle cop! He was stopped and told not to drive if he didn't know where he was going. Did this cause him to pull over, get the right address or location? No! He made a few more U turns then happily went his merry way. I hope he found where he was suppose to be going or at least stop driving.

This isn't always true. I consider bigger cars to be safer in an accident. Once, after a chargeable accident, my car was totaled. I bought a newer, bigger, more expensive car and my rates actually went down because the big car was considered safer. You just have to drive them like you have some sense.

Yes bigger cars are safer to the ones that are driving them.  What about the people that are getting hit by them.  That's just more mass coming at you and the fact that they don't brake as fast as say a sports car.  How about the roll over factor.  SUV's are scary. >:(

I'm driving a big o' dodge 8 seater ram van and I don't like it but I have no choice. Big cars aren't so much manuevarable for me. They're the hardest to find a parking space especially when I go pick up groceries plus they consume so much gas.

 I drive a geo tracker, with pink poka dots, and a giant wind-up key in the back.

That was kind of mean, one bad driver in a big car doesn't mean all drivers with big cars are idiots. I've seen people in small cars make just as many dumb mistakes in their little car as people do in their big cars. In fact usually the people with the small cars like to act like their in a drag race. Some people are just responsible, some aren't.

:) The bigger...the better, the safer. Look at Chevy Suburbans...you can easily drive them through a blizzard and survive!

You can't generalize about people and cars.  Some people drive as though they are the only ones on the road and the rules are for everybody else.  Idiots drive big and small cars.  I see it everyday.

I drive our Chevy Suburban because my job is the closest.  Takes a lot of gas for the suburban, but she rides nice and is paid for.  I prefer a car after years of driving minivans because of having 4 kids at home.  Another reason why we have the suburban!  Anyway, now that the kids are gone, I'd like to downsize to a car.

big cars are safer and much roomy especially when you have children and you have to put 2 car seats in the care if you do it in the sedan there will be no place for anything else

There are several reasons why many people keep on buying these vehicles. Some people REALLY need those big SUVS to tow somewhat heavy stuff and to transport the family at the same time.
