Depends on if you want to pay taxes or not.

First of all, you need to change your W-4. That is where the withholdings elections are made.

You can't change the W2.  That is what your employer sends you at the end of the year.   If your boss is not taking taxes out of your check then you likely will get a 1099 and you will owe the taxes for the entire year and have to pay them.  If your boss does not turn in taxes and you worked and you don't turn in paying taxes you are going to be in a world of hurt.

I had applied for a job a few years ago and the smart@@@ that interviewed me said he didn't take taxes out of the checks and "it is up to YOU to pay the taxes YOU owe".  Needless to say I did not accept a job. haha  If the same thing happened today I would likely turn him in because that is illegal unless you are a contract labor position.

Being self employed, I have a 1099 I get from the company I work for as an independent contractor. even though I am working for him, He does not take taxes out so he sends me a 1099. then I have expenses like mileage , misc spending, etc. that helps as well ;)

You need to update/change your W-4, if no taxes are being withheld, then you are more then  likely going to have to pay them when you file; your job may provide you with a 1099 I believe that is the correct form, that you use when you file your taxes. Hope it all works out and you won't owe to much.

I finally got all my things together to get my taxes filled out.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

you'll need to do a w-4 ... the w2 is what the employer sends you with your wages and telling what has been taken out.  my son's employer takes out federal taxes on him but never takes state taxes out, which means he has to pay into state EVERY year.  he's tried over and over to get them to take state taxes out to no avail. luckily he gets more back from federal than he pays to state so he doesn't pay out of pocket so to say.

Unless your Boss is paying your taxes for you, which I doubt he/she is then you will have to pay taxes for the whole year out of your pocket. If he/she gives you a w-2 then they would have taken out the appropiate amount of taxes unless is is all zeros, then I think that the company would be in trouble. ???

My employer didn't take any on mine before, so now that I don't have any more dependence. I requested to my employer to take out some, so I don't have to pay taxes at the end. What I had to do was change my W-4 form with my employer that would do the trick.

You probably need to make changes to your w-4 form if you want your employer to withhold more taxes for you.
