Beanie Babies
« on: February 02, 2017, 09:46:54 am »
Have you ever collected those toys? They were invented in November of 1993 but didn't become popular until 1995. I collected them for at most a couple of years.

Never got into the beanie babies but my mother and I collected Boyds Bears, they were better for us to use around our houses (bears sitting on stuff)  where the beanie babies just wouldn't have worked as well. We collected them for years.  My mom was a head start director and loved children more than life. When she died I took all of our bears and boxed them up and delivered them to different law enforcement and fire depts.  To give out to children having a ruff day, the bears needed to be hugged. And I know my mom would have liked that....

I did collect Beanie Babies! I was one of many that was under the false impression they would be worth a lot someday haha. I actually just went through a large tub that was FULL of them- it doesn't seem like I kept them in the best condition anyway!

Never really was crazy about them, but had a few in the '90s.

I did, and I have hundreds of them.  Over the years, I've given some away to children that liked them or even as part of a birthday present.  Some of them I'll never give away, not because they're worth money but have some special meaning.

Yes years ago I had a  bunch of them, but gave them to my young cousin as keepsakes, told her they are a collector's item, so to hold on to them.

My husband had hundreds of them and when we had to downsize and move he sold them. He did not get rich.
