I use a heating pad and alternate with ice packs for pain and inflammation no more than 15 mins. each. WARNING: The continual use of heat applied to the skin can cause a bruise looking like pattern, often seen when you get extremely overheated, but this eventually can turn into cancer, not to mention the heat pattern tends to stick around for a while even after stopping the use of applied heat. Google it for more info. I just happened to notice the pattern on my leg and googled it to find that it will last and can easily cause cancer, just so you know.

Honestly it depends where the pain is - if it's in my neck I use my Shiatsu massager and that usually cures the pain, if it's in my knees, I alternate between "tens" relief and ice packs or heat packs.

Bought my new heating pad today, and ready to try.

It has been a life-saver with the pinched sciatic nerve, and helps me get my leg and back to normal.

Yay  :)

I don't use heat to treat pain. Ice is much better and actually produces results.

LOVE my heating pad --- :)

Do you use heating pads for your pain. I am having Fibromyalgia pain, so I have been using a pad now for 2 days, I must have lifted something that caused me to irritate my fibro pain.

I have had doctors suggest heat and/or ice. Whichever helps the pain. I have a heating pad on my back right now and I am trying to stretch out my back as it loosens up from the heat. I just had bloodwork done to check for fibromyalgia or some auto-immune disease but the doctor believes it all coming from my lower back
