Some Surveys
« on: December 19, 2016, 03:36:43 pm »
I just spend over 30 minutes doing a survey and all is going well and then I am asked "do you feel comfortable uploading pictures and videos of yourself, your friends, and your family"  uh NO!  And I get kicked out.  I feel like questions like this should be asked first before we waste our time.  What do you think?

This one was talking about joining an online group similar to this but after about 30 minutes you get to the very end and it is like oh you have to upload pictures of yourself, your friends, and your family and even video.  Only the people in the group and us can see it.  Are you comfortable with that.  And when I said no they kicked me out.  SO I wasted my time.  I just think a question like that should be asked first.  Because a lot of people are not comfortable with that.  I do not upload pictures of myself to the internet.  Or my dog.  Because people steal your pictures and do whatever they want to with them.

I also think that such a question should be asked at the very start of a survey!  I would not do it.  But I hate the very idea of wasting 30 minutes on such a survey!

I think I recently had a similar survey.  I also remember 'x'ing' out myself after being asked something too personal.  And, yes, it was towards the end of the questionnaire.

I believe that anything out of the norm, webcam, personal pics, downloading this, uploading that etc. should be mentioned at the beginning.

I believe I got that survey, too.  It seemed a little "too personal" for my comfort level and rather sneaky.  Maybe that's why they keep you going with the "qualifying questions" for half an hour and then ... wham!  Maybe you just keep going and agree to share/upload?

That's why this Forum is so helpful and we can share this kind of information for the benefit of our fellow survey takers.   :angry7:

That's just wrong! I agree with you, they should ask those types of questions in the beginning of the survey. I actually just completed a survey that wanted to use my webcam to record my feelings. I declined, but luckily, it still let me complete the survey. It's scary how people can access your information so easily these days, so you should be able to complete a survey without having to provide things like pictures, videos, etc. If you are comfortable uploading those things, by all means, go ahead. But for those of us a little more concerned, we should not be penalized for being vigilant. Sorry that happened to you, and hopefully you get into a better, higher paying survey!

True.  It was asking about being willing to join an online panel which I think was the first question.  Yes, I would do that.  That is what this is.  But the next question should be you will be required to share photos and videos of yourself.  Are you still interested.  Then I could have said no right then.  :)  But this way they get all of your opinions and they can use them whether you finish the survey or not.

I agree. I would not upload my pictures or family pictures.  Why do they need or want them?  I hate when after spending time doing a survey a question like that appears at the end.  Ask it in the beginning.

Nancy, I don't know.  There was a woman working for Snickers handing out samples of their new crunch candy bar.  And after she gives you one she asks if she can take your picture with her personal cell phone that she says she needs to send to snickers so they know she is doing her job.  I told her if I had to submit my picture never mind.  She said that was okay.  I am sure she was telling the truth but then she has these pictures on her personal cell phone and why does Snickers need the pictures and what are they going to do with them?

I won't do those surveys either, nor will i do them that want you to  use your web camera , i feel that is a little out of line.  Nor do i want them calling me, i have enough of that. And i do not want to put  stuff on facebook.   I feel they are getting a little pushy for what they want to pay when they pay. alot of them would just  get all the info they want then say sorry survey is closed, or you don't quailify.  I get alot of those.  they just don't want to pay.

Countrygirl, I'm with you, she can keep her candy bar.  Why would Snickers want my picture?  To prove she gave me one?  That's bull.  I would love to know what they are going to do with these pictures.  Glad you said no!  Smart move!!

I did the survey you were talking about and I agreed to the photo question. I am now a member of the Online Community they were recruiting for and they have not mentioned uploading any pictures FYI

Agreed. I think that type of request should be made at the beginning of the survey.
