A holidaqy treat.
« on: December 14, 2016, 09:40:44 am »
Here were I live, we don't grow the chestnut trees. Have you ever tasted roasted chestnuts in this joyous time? I lived near the state of Oregon and Washington boarder line and in the city they had the walking food stands (like hotdog stands) but they roasted chestnuts on a open fire grill, and they sold them in a bag like popcorn bags. I bought a bag and the man that wore a holiday sparkle coat and festively hat told me that the nuts where very hot so wait for a sec. I remember this holiday memory nobody was with me I was taking a walk at that time. It has it's own taste, crunchy, yummy. Happy Roast Chestnuts Day for those who can get them. Have a gr8 day  :present:

I have never tried roasted chestnuts.  I don't even know if you can get them where I live.  They sound like they would be a good treat for the Christmas season.

I used to roast chestnuts "way back when" when they were available around here. They are now a memory. Very few places sell them and when you can find them, they're very expensive. All because of a stupid insect!

I have tried roasted chestnuts but I prefer pecans or cashews.
Have a wonderful day!

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire! The way you described it makes me think of that line of the famous holiday song. I bet it tastes pretty good. Thanks for sharing us your adventure today!

I have never had the opportunity to eat roasted chestnuts.   It sounds delightful though.

I love Chestnuts, but they're not easy to find.  I remember the good old days when my Dad roasted them.  Chestnuts are awesome!
