Have ever cooked a recipe from an old cookbook? My grandma made a cake from the 1800s she told me remember they didn't have sugars and flours and heat like they do now and this alone will be different. The cake looked like pancakes stacked up, sweetened with honey and molasses. Her foods didn't look like the old-tyme restaurants they have on the old towns you can visit. They had hand pies meat and fruit.
