Have you ever donated plasma?

Lately, I've been donating plasma to earn money to pay for dental work.  Each time I donate I receive $30; here, in Cedar City, Utah.

Have you ever donated plasma?

It's a little bit different than donating blood to the American Red Cross.  I have to make sure I hydrate well and get enough protein because I am selling a certain amount of fluid and protein in my body.

No.  I have never donated Plasma.
I have thought about it in the past couple years, to give back, since it was so beneficial to my mother when she had cancer. 

I heard it takes hours... is that true?
Do they treat you kindly?

Yes, I have but not for quite some time. It's a good way to earn a little money if they can find your vein.

No, I have never heard of any cash for donations of any sort were I live.

No, I haven't donated plasma.  I have donated blood, though.  My daughter used to donate plasma when she was in college for extra spending money (for things that I wouldn't fund....).

I have been donating for about three years (my anniversary will be the first week in January. I donate twice a week. The amount paid is based on the amount donated. the amount donated is based upon an individual's weight. I weigh two hundred and twenty pounds so I am allowed to donate the maximum which is eight hundred and eighty milli-liters. Donation time varies on a few different things. If your red cell count is higher you will take longer to donate. Drinking lots of water the day before, and day of, donation helps dilute the red blood cells which allows for a quicker donation. If I have taken in enough water I am able to make a full donation in about an hour. There are often lines after work that can take anywhere from thirty minutes to one hour to get through.

I tried once but my veins were too small.  They had a hard time getting anything out.  Which was really odd because I donate blood a lot...not sure why they couldn't do it.

never plasma,but blood...i have big veins so they never have a probem finding them...didnt know you got paid for it..thats cool

My husband donates what they call doubles which is blood and plasma but they don't pay him. It is only thru Red Cross here in NC.

I wasn't aware you could get paid to donate plasma. I have heard of double donations, but have never done it....despite being asked several times. It's been a while since I donated blood...I used to do it all the time!

I would like to donate some plasma, but have always heard it takes a long time for the donation.  Add that to the trip to a bigger city and then the question arises of whether I would be allowed to drive myself back home---do you need a driver?  are you weak? are there restrictions?

i have donated both platelets and plasma.  Right now i am donating platelets with Life Source and i earn points which can be transfered or redeemed for gift cards.

I've donated 41 pints of blood thus far, but never have been able to donate plasma or stem cells.

I have considered getting paid for it, but never seriously pursued it.
