Fatigue possibly from depression
« on: December 04, 2016, 01:03:21 pm »
I was diagnosed with depression a few years ago. Even though my depression is tremendously better I still struggle with fatigue. Especially during the weekends. Its like I have only enough energy to watch movies, rest, and be lazy during the weekends.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's a couple of years ago.  Fatigue is a large part of that health issue because it includes hypothyroidism.

I found that taking a mega dose of B complex helped me tremendously.  B vitamins are important for both; mental and physical health which is why it helped me with depression and fatigue.

Most people are depressed if they don't know how to fix their physical health problems.  Sometimes medical professionals are helpful and sometimes we just need to find ways to help ourselves.  Good luck!
Have a great day!

Fatigue is absolutely connected to depression, and sometimes the holidays heightens that depression.

Feel better soon  :rose: :rainbow:

Try getting more sunlight/vitamin c, fruit, veggies, and water.  Sometimes I fall into a funk and taking a ride to get some fresh air seems to help.

Fatigue could come from many reason. Working to hard, not enough sleep, Diabetics and other elements.

But fatigue was the biggest as it was noticebale in work.

Also low on iron can cause tiredness,  meat has iron so eat a nice steak. Been waking up early in the morning because of nasal congestion. I feel tired during the day also.

I used to have the same problem... Was depressed most of my HS and was not active. Started to get better in my early college years. My brother and I applied for a membership at a fitness center (went there at night since we had day classes) Afterwards we dropped the membership and I got a cardio bike and dumbells. Although I made it my regime that I will always exercise at least an hour, I was still fatigue at time. When I was doing my physical checkup with my doctor I noticed that they will always push me to take a b12 shot (since my b12 is low for my age). I bought a b12 methyl tablet and consume it everyday. Maybe it is a placebo affect, but I don't remember being fatigued anymore. Can't really rely on b12 shots because I only visit my physician only once a year since I'm young and don't have any problems.

Check your b12 levels from ur blood result and see if you need b12 supplements or the b12 shot. Other then that it could be low vitamin d. Hope it helps

Depression can and will cause fatigue.  My husband has manic depression due to his disabilities.
Have a wonderful day!

sherryinutah - my daughter was diagnosed with Hashi's when she was only 12.  She is now 18.  A college student and night manager for a national restaurant chain.  She's also in for a lifetime battle with an eating disorder.  The combination of the two are absolutely draining.  She's a perfectionist - a real go getter.  But when given the chance to let her guard down and rest... she can be out... literally out for 12+ hours.  If she didn't have a schedule to keep to non-stop I think she could "laze it" for a few days at time.

I understand and I sympathize.  I now have heart issues that cause fatigue and still struggle with depression from the death of my husband in 2013 so I don't know at any given time what is causing what.  I could hardly move yesterday felt like I had no strength.  My two grown sons are always fussing at me to push myself and I know they are looking out for me and are concerned for me but I get to the place where I can't push myself.  Well I hope you feel better and are able to enjoy the holidays.   :snowman:

Fatigue plays a major part in your depression. It can escalate into other things.  Have a talk with your Primary doctor.  They can help sometimes, but usually send you to see a mental therapist.

Look at improving your diet if you're not eating healthy.  Cut out processed food especially excess salt and sugar.

I just had a steak sub last night. I do notice if I eat more iron I am not as fatigued. I forgot to mention the doctors also said I was low on iron but that was a few years ago.
