UPS, Fedex, & Post Office delivery
« on: December 03, 2016, 07:54:48 pm »
I just saw on tv news a man dressed in UPS uniform rang a doorbell holding a package.  The owner opened the door to get the delivery and the UPS fake delivery man stormed into the house followed by 3 other men.  The shot the man (lucky did not kill him), and robbed the home.  Please be very careful when delivery men ring your bell they may be who they claime to be, or maybe not.

Saw this on the news too! What a shame. If I am home I still don't open the door as most of the time the delivery men leave the package.  If not I will pick it from the correct location

Wow, it's really so sad that you can't trust anyone. I remember growing up we never locked our doors, even when leaving the house.  Now we keep them locked even when we are home.

We live in a small town and I know our delivery people by name.  I'd probably be suspicious if it was someone I didn't know.

UPS said you do NOT have to sign for any package unless YOU specify you want to.  This is not true.  If you have certain items delivered they require a signature.  Some medications, ammo, some companies shipping high dollar items even send them signature required.

And knowing the drivers doesn't work around the holidays.  They hire several thousand people to be "driver helpers" and that is who goes to the door.  Most of the time they do leave the package but as I said, there are some packages that require a signature.  And some people lie and say the package was not delivered or stolen or whatever to get a second phone or computer and on and on and after so many times UPS will not leave a package at that address without a signature.

I do not think the story we read was random.  I think they knew the person or had some previous involvement with them.  OR knew what was in the house or something they had.  For example when you get a script filled at the pharmacy and somebody is standing on top of you and finds out you have a script for pain killers.  They know you have something they want.

The crooks and thieves are everywhere sadly - I personally don't open my door until the truck has left!

Why?  If it is a delivery truck then they are for real.  The guy in this news story was not driving a UPS truck.  You never know who may be lurking outside to steal the package and if the UPS truck is gone then you are on your own.  People want to blame UPS for this but they do not seem to realize this was NOT a UPS employee.  Not sure how or where he got the jacket though.  Unless it was not an official UPS jacket.

That is just sad to hear. I searched for this on the news through Google and found it on ABC News.
