Trading your vote - SCAM
« on: November 07, 2016, 12:13:11 pm »
Clicking on some PTC ads a few mornings ago, a page popped up called trumptraders.org. I do NOT endorse that page or its practices, but it raises some serious questions as to the ethics of this sort of "vote swap". The basic gist of the site is this - it targets third party supporters in key battleground states and asks them to vote for Hillary and in exchange they will get TWO Hillary supporters in non-battleground states to vote for your third-party candidate of choice.  They try to make it sound like a sweet deal because it will artificially increase the national support for the third-party candidate (assuming that they follow through and actually DO give you those two votes for your one), but the obvious objective is to win the election for Hillary and defeat Donald.

I was in shock when I saw this site and the fraud it solicits. It's one thing for a particular candidate to try to convince me to vote for them based on their own policies or based upon the negatives of the other ticket/party. I either agree or disagree and vote my conscience. But it is quite another to try to convince me to vote for one party in my battleground state in exchange for two throw away votes elsewhere for a candidate with no chance to win - just to make some sort of statement. When those third-party candidate votes are meaningless and don't REALLY represent overall increased support for a third party, how is this ethical in this or any other alternate universe?

Regardless of whether a person is a Clinton, Trump, or Johnson supporter, this is a complete whoring of the system and should be offensive to EVERYONE including Clinton supporters. I am going to vote for who I am going to vote for and I would expect anyone else to do the same. Anyone who "sells" their vote in this manner is no better than the Cleveland Indians season ticket holder who sold his extra World Series tickets to Cub fans for a tidy profit. Yeah, you made a few bucks, but you ended up with a Game Seven crowd in Progressive Field generating some serious decibels when David Ross hit a solo shot in the 6th inning.

If you support Donald - VOTE FOR DONALD; if you support Hillary - VOTE FOR HILLARY; if you support one of the third party candidates or cannot stand either Donald OR Hillary and you just want to make a statement - MAKE THAT STATEMENT. Your vote counts for YOU and not anyone else. Your vote is NOT meant to game the system. Your vote is NOT meant to count more than my vote. Your vote is NOT a bartering chip to be sold to the highest bidder.

Every election year there seems to be more scams and fraud out there. I am glad i voted early and won't even have to go  down and vote Tuesday. I hate people wanting to know who i voted for when i come out. It is a secret vote and none of their business.

I have never heard of this.  And you can click whatever or say whatever but when you go to vote nobody but you and the government knows how you vote.  And don't kid yourself your vote is not anonymous.

I have never had anybody ask me who I voted for when I came out.  I have had people hand me cards.  And people get too bent out of shape over that.  Take the cards, throw them in the trash, and go on. No need to be mean to people.  I get a little irritated with people and their "secret".  If you stand for something you should not have to hide it.  I use to work for a man who claimed he did not even tell his wife who he supported.  That is just stupid.

I have seen the same page being promoted on all the survey sites. I guess we are easier targets than social media lol
I will vote for the candidate I choose. Period.

The truth about JFKs killing is still a joke!!!

You wonder about the Gore/Bush election!!

Why should any be surprised if fraud came from this?

Jesus said when the fig tree blooms you know summer is near. All the signs he spoke of since 1914 clearly shows this system is on the way out as he explained to his followers.

very well put.  I had that pop up for me as well, just clicked it off.  of course I never click any of the pop ups but it's a shame that people do stuff like that and make the candidates look bad as well. regardless of which side it's for.

I bumped into Trump Traders on a different site earlier today, too.  I was curious for a minute but quickly lost interest.  I've already voted anyway.

Have a great day!

I read about this on BING homepage yesterday.

Some Supreme Court judge said it was okay as it was considered Freedom of Speech... even though they personally don't agree with it.

I was reading about a Democrat in California offering to vote for the 3rd party candidate in California, in exchange for a person in a swing state who was voting for the 3rd party candidate instead of Hillary to then vote for Hillary; they figure that the 3rd party candidate was taking votes from Hillary, so it was a way the 3rd party candidate could still get numbers, while not losing the swing state.    California is historically Democrat, so who ever they voted for in California didn't matter.    It was some app voting exchange for Hillary. The Democrat in CA was a lawyer, he was just being used as one example.

Crazy times...

I guess this concept didn't work out too well for Clinton. It is crazy how this could have worked if you could trust all the people who were involved.
