I saw a story on yahoo and I swear they said Florida and South Carolina are already declaring a state of emergency and then the next line said "we don't know that this will effect the US but we need to be prepared".
That is completely crazy.

I'm praying for everyone to stay safe. We have a lot of trees in our yard and I always go to a hotel when its a bad storm because trees have fallen on our house with us at home and it's not a pleasant experience.

That is completely crazy.

That's because there would be backlash if something did happen and they did nothing to prepare or warn people.  I live in Florida. We get warnings often to be prepared even if there is only a slight chance that it will hit. I remember we got warnings to prepare for Katrina and I was even out of school for a while and it hit 3 hours away.

Personally I am praying we will just get some rain and wind because I can't do without electricity due to needing my Cpap machine.  Although my sons both work at different assisted living facilities and one of them said family members could come there if the workers are required to come in to the facility to help out.  Otherwise I might have to check into the hospital and I don't want to do that if I can help it.

The update this morning (Wed.) stated it's supposed to veer away from the coast around North Carolina. The will leave VA, DE, MD, D.C., NJ, PA, NY, and points north  out of its path. I will wait and see.

For those in the path, praying everyone stays safe.

I saw on TV this morning that it will be going out to sea south of the
Carolinas so at least the northeast won't be getting anything terrible
from Hurricane Matthew. But that still leaves all of you FCers in Florida
with a gigunda problem. Hopefully you will be OK.
