CNN claims Clinton won hands down. Fox claims that Trump won hands down. So much for using the polls to say who won.... I actually thought both did what they wanted to do for this first debate. Hillary had to show that she was strong and had stamina to hold her own. Trump had to show that he wouldn't go flying off the handle, so to speak, and that he wasn't sexist or racist (wouldn't "*bleep*" Clinton up too much so that his detractors could show him being a sexist bully).
The one thing that really upset me was how communist both sounded.... Hillary went full-fledged communist, talking about having businesses share profits, etc. Trump went commie in his trade discussions, like making businesses stay in the US.
I was also upset that both agreed with the gun-ban for people on the no-fly list.... There is no proper vetting / due process for the people on the no-fly list: no trial where people getting their names put on the list can argue their case, no checks by the other houses of government, and no accountability when people are errantly placed on the list. We have had US citizens that have been accidentally placed on the list, some being quite well known, like the singer Cat Stevens and even Senator Ted Kennedy. As well as many people that have common names (that are often used as terrorist aliases) such as Robert Johnson. To make matters worse, it is extremely difficult to remove your name if it had been placed on the list in error; if a person goes through the process to try to get their name removed, the most that they get told is that the government has processed their request, but not indicating what resolution occurred: whether the person wasn't actually on the list, whether the person's name was removed, or even if the government decided to keep the name on the list after all. And now the politicians want to use that error-prone system to further restrict US citizens' rights without any due process by taking away their guns.... I'd just hope that whoever becomes president will be the first one to try to take the gun away from Lt. Col. Robert J. Johnson from the US Army because he just happened to have the same name as a Toronto terrorist.
