Do you cook/eat crawfish?
« on: September 10, 2016, 01:01:29 pm »
In my area, we are having the crayfish, crawdads, freshwater lobsters, mountain lobsters, or mudbugs, are freshwater crustaceans resembling small lobsters festival, this weekend. I only will eat them at this festival, to me, they can taste like mud if they are raised in mud water. Much fun here. Do you have a recipe ya want to share? Have a gr8 day  :present:

I have heard a lot of people eat them but I have only ever used crawdads to fish with. I bet they would be good to eat if someone knew how to cook them, sadly I do not.

No crayfish for me.  I am squeamish about seafood.  I like breaded and fried shrimp.  I like breaded and fried fish.  And, that is about that.  The thought of crayfish kind of makes me nauseated lol.

We have a festival in Oregon too and I have eaten them there as well as caught my own, but they don't compare to Maine Lobster I assure you.

They are not as good as lobster, but too my husband who cannot eat shellfish they are great, in fact i have some i need to fix him.  Bought them at a specialty store. But we can go out in the ditches and get them. I just prefer it already done.  I don't like to get my fingers pinched.

No, I never had crawfish before and after reading your description (of what they could taste like), I'm officially disinterested. Mud?...Yuck!...I know crustaceans are all bottom feeders, but CRAWfish, hence the word craw, sounds especially unappetizing. However I do eat shrimp and crab (I never had lobster,  I want to try some one day).

I have tried crawfish and do not care for them. I agree with Oldbuddy, nothing compares to Maine Lobster, with drawn butter. Yumm!
