Wells Fargo Fiasco
« on: September 09, 2016, 12:18:58 pm »
What do you think about the 5,200 people that got fired from Wells Fargo because they created fake accounts to make their sales figures look better using money of and info about their customers? I find it absolutely astounding that you could get that many people in one company to do something illegal like that AND that it didn't get caught that they were doing these things before it got out of hand and done by that large a number of employees.

I don't trust big banks.
I had my accounts with Bank of America until I heard a story from a letter carrier.
She went to take money out of her account for her daughter's wedding. She was told that her account had been changed and there were problems that didn't allow her access.
I do business with  small banks.

So big that they are too big!?  No one checking on the "checks and balances"?  You got to wonder about stuff like this.  Once you start chasing the dollar I think it becomes an addiction when you are around that sort of culture.

I stopped using Wells Fargo about 13 years ago because of unbroken promises. Went to a small state bank and it was great, they made you feel so welcome and were eager to please. So when we moved we went with another state bank in our part of the state. Same thing and when you go in they all know you. Where at Wells Fargo you were just a number.

Big bank employees playing with customers $$$$$ is   :bad:  .  At least the wf workers got caught and got fired.  Also, wf got fined millions for the scandal.

When a large number of people are doing it - Some of them probably thought it was acceptable.

I see that a lot.  Some people believe it's okay to do something illegal as long as they don't get caught.  I have friends who operate that way.

Integrity means doing all the right things for all the right reasons; regardless, of what other people choose to do.
Have a great day!

The fact that none of customers even noticed the extra fees is mind-boggling.

No not really.  I use to work at Lowe's and they were punishing employees for not selling the extended warranties, scanning the mylowes cards, selling the MDA cards, and other stuff and people were basically doing it and hoping the customer didn't notice.  I also know at a local bank if you do not open a certain number of new accounts (and the number is high) you are fired.  You can make people buy this stuff and make people open accounts if you try hard enough.  You just are not trying.  SO people do what they have to in order to keep their jobs.

I am not sure how all these customers had stuff charged to their accounts and they just didn't notice.  Of course I am different I guess because I keep an eye on my money.

I think it's terrible! And honestly, it doesn't surprise me. I had an account with them long before they were Wells Fargo, back when it was Wachovia bank. When they switched to Wells Fargo, I decided to stay and that's when I began having problems. Not only was their staff ridiculously rude, but I felt that my account management was always being screwed up. Eventually I decided to leave Wells Fargo and went to TD Bank, who I love and would recommend to anyone!

I didn't hear about that until now, but that is a very high number! But I think the company itself is at fault too, because they shouldn't put pressure on their employees like that.
