Hotel Food Ideas
« on: August 23, 2016, 07:37:31 am »
I am going to be staying in a hotel and need ideas for food. I will have a fridge, microwave, extremely small freezer.

I was thinking about things such as salad bar, frozen mac and cheese, maybe fruit bar, and possibly a doughnut.

Any good ideas?

I can spend a little, but still want to stay within budget. The fruit bar is expensive, so I might not do that.

I always think spaghetti is a good 'mobile' food. I would cook it up beforehand and then keep it refridgerated until it is time to warm it up in the microwave. It heats up really well. I know this is a good option because I make spaghett often and I give some to my husband to warm up in the microwave at work. I usually also freeze some so I have some for another day. As I make it in the slow cooker, there's not much washing up to do either.

i take the prepared non canned beef stew in the bowls and shelf stable. there good for travel and all you have to take it out of the package and put it  in the microwave and heat it up for a few minutes.

I live in hotels and I always prefer hotels with free breakfast.  If you are in a hotel with a good and free breakfast I'd take extra food back to my room like fruit, eggs, oatmeal etc.  I never eat in the breakfast area anyway.  I always take it back to my room.

The hotel I stay at does offer continental breakfast so I might take advantage of that.

Milk is good to keep in your hotel refrigerator to use in cereal if you like eating breakfast in your room.  It can also be used in a number of different ways. Food for sandwiches is also good if you need to eat something in a hurry or just want a snack.

Microwave popcorn, instant oatmeal, muffins from Costco or WINCO. Instant soup, cottage cheese, canned chili. Bagels and cream cheese, lunchmeat.

We always kept bread, deli meats , PBJ  and fresh fruit to help with the cost of lunches.   We usually have a small cooler with us also even if we have a styrofoam one to take with us when we leave the room

I usually go with the hotels with bed and breakfast that serves omlets, muffins, hash browns, sausages and gravy, cereal, fresh fruits, and others.

Look for frozen dinners or prepared dinners- they are often on sale.

Try shopping in your grocery store's deli dept.  That's my favorite part of the grocery store!
Deli sandwiches, burritos, salads, pasta, pastry.   I love the pasta salads and the chicken salads,
so easy to just pick up and eat without cooking at all.  Good luck!
