Nancy i love dogs.I have a mixed dachsund and beagle. My wife and i spoil her to death. She was biting her tail.We would strictly warn her NOT to do it.I think eventually she listend.

Maybe i woulda suggested for you to warn your dog about the cone and he if disobeyed to put it on him only for a little while till he catches on if he disobeys its cone time........LOL!!

The best to you and poochie!

That poor guy.  Maybe you should put the cone on his back end to prevent him from licking it. I'm not a dog owner so I may not know what I'm talking about.

I had so many problems when I had to put a cone on my mastiff for awhile (she had an infected back-paw that she wouldn't leave alone). First of all, it was difficult finding a cone big enough for her. And then she also had difficulty getting through doors with it on. Except that she would just power her way through. Sometimes the cone would bend enough to allow her to get through, but more often than not, the cone would just crack (making it useless) and I'd have to go find another one. SMH

Lvstephanie, he plowed through the door finally, and broke the cone too!  Shaquaysha2210 - I was only kidding with the heading, I guess you didn't read my complete post and just the title, everyone else realized the title was a joke, sorry you didn't.

I hope your baby gets to feeling better real soon.  We had a similar situation happen with one of our cats.  We believe he's allergic to fleas and even though we don't have a flea issue right now, he could have been reacting to a bite he had some time ago.  Thankfully, after his visit to the vet, he's doing much better now.

A soft cone was recommended for him but after my husband and I looked at each other and our kitty looked at us, it was a unanimous decision: No Cone for Kitty.  :cat:

Have you ever had an itch you couldn't get to stop. Imagine that feeling for a dog. Poor guy.

The cone restricts their vision so it is going to bother them and it throws off their balance when they are walking again they can't see to the sides.  My dog got hit by a car when he was 3 months old and he refused to leave his leg alone.  We had 2 cones on him.  One a little bigger than the other trying to keep him from chewing and licking his leg.
