I mail birthday, anniversary, new baby, sympathy, and Christmas cards.  Actually I just mailed a congratulations on your new home card.

Once in a while I will mail a card or write a letter to my girlfriend. She lives 4 hours from my house so we keep in contact anyway we can. I also mail a Christmas card to my friend and his wife who live in NJ. All my friends live far away.lol

I mail Sympathy cards and for birthdays, I create picture cards using SEND OUT CARDS that I mail out.
I read this post very quickly and THOUGHT that you said that you mail sympathy cards FOR birthdays - it gave me a chuckle!  "So sorry that you are now turning 57, but look on the bright side..."

I mail birthday cards to my nieces and nephews because I always put in paper money - a number of dollars equal to the number of years that they turned that particular year.

I do to the older people in my family that don't use computers.  The ones that do use them I always just send e-cards.  It's a lot more efficient, plus the site I use sends me birthday, anniversary reminders.

I do mail some cards, especially the grandkids get a kick out of receiving mail.

Yes, picking out a card and mailing it is more personal.

Cards are so expensive these days.  It is nothing for a card to cost $6 or more.  You can get cheap ones at Dollar Tree though.

I like to get cards in the mail myself so I still go out of my way to mail cards for birthdays to my relatives and friends. I love to browse the cards in the drugstore and stationery store and find it fun to buy them too.

While I was still working my actual "mailing" of greeting cards went down to just a few, however, now that I'm retired I plan on picking back up on the habit.  I love getting a card in the mail so I'm assuming others do also.
