I didn't even know the opening ceremonies were close.  Shows how excited I am!  I will end up watching some but clearly not jumping up and down.

I've heard more negatives about the location, housing conditions, pollution and Zika than the Olympic games themselves.  Last night on O'Reilly's show, regular commentator, Dennis Miller, did his usual tongue-in-cheek piece...photos of pollution...tourist areas...how many working bathroom facilities for athletes...funny but not!  Yikes!  The Olympics used to be such a big deal!?  At this point, I believe the negatives are overshadowing the Events.

I have always enjoyed the Olympics and am looking forward to this year's events, first time since I retired so I'll be able to see more events than I use to see.  But I do agree with you, the negatives are taking away from the events.   I am curious to see if the negatives are really as bad as the publicity is indicating.   I'm hoping not.

Too many bad things as said by previous posters, also dismembered body parts found near the Olympic village/ volleyball area.

I assume they relit the torch, apparently someone put it out.

Kind of makes you wonder how much they put into the opening ceremony considering how bad everything else is in other places in Rio. I'm sure it'll be a great show and if I can remember I'll watch it. When I can catch it I like to watch the gymnastics.

I honestly do not care about the Olympics.  I use to years ago.
