night lights
« on: August 04, 2016, 08:15:46 am »
the apartment I live in has electrical outlets in the right places.
the first night after I moved, I noticed that there is a tiny green light in the right lower corner.
what a clever idea.
I don't know about you but I have experimented with flashlights of various sorts to have nearby at night when I walk around in the dark.

I didn't know there were outlets like that either.  From day one I was taught to sleep in a dark room.  The darker the better.  Night lights were viewed as a waste of electricity as far as my mother was concerned.  Therefore we never had them.  Even the soft glow of a coffee pot bothers her to this day and she unplugs it every morning.  So when I met my husband who needs little flashes of glowing colors surrounding him I cringe.  It makes it hard for me to relax to fall asleep.  I just make sure I'm over tired as to avoid tossing and turning.

I prefer  total darkness, but hubby can't see to get around in the dark  and he is always getting up during the night and will turn lights on every where he goes, and sometimes will then sit down and read for awhile and i will get up and turn off all lights that don't need to be on.He and i are totally different in so many ways, but we have made it 23 years together. Guess i have just learned to put up with it.

we have 2 nightlights in our hallway, just because it's so long and is really dark even with the doors open to it.  without them we'd walk into the bookcase that is built into the wall all the time

I prefer totally darkness, but when we have guest I do try and plug in a small night light for them to navigate better.

It's a GFCI outlet.  The light is there to let you know the outlet has power.  It's not there to pose as a 'night light' but if you like it for that, then power to you.

Yea I love night lights and I need to get a couple of more of them.  If I turn on a bright light or lamp then it takes me forever to get back to sleep and I get up a lot at night.  Thanks for the reminder I need to put night lights and bulbs on my shopping list.  They did have pink bulbs and blue bulbs at our grocery store and I loved the pink ones but I noticed they don't care them anymore.
