Donating Plasma
« on: August 03, 2016, 01:19:25 am »
Have you ever donated plasma?

I had a plasma donating experience earlier today.  It's quite different from the times when I've donated blood via the American Red Cross.

I found out that it's important to have enough protein in my diet and it's important to be well hydrated if I plan to do this on a regular basis.

Here, in Utah, a person is paid $30 each time they donate.

I'm grateful that I'm healthy enough to have this opportunity.
Have a great day!

I tried donating plasma once a few years back but the needle they use was to large for my veins supposedly.

Oh well... $300 missed opportunity!

I wasn't aware of this.... I hate giving blood, usually I don't weigh enough to donate anyhow. Great idea tho!

I have considered donating plasma in the past.  But finding time to get to a city that does the service plus the wait time etc, is a big drawback for me.

I never donated plasma, but I always donated blood in he past.  I can't now, even though I'm done with the real chemo, I am taking a chemo pill now, so that stops me from donating. 😟

My daughter would donate plasma when she was in college ~ for extra spending money.  She didn't do it very often.
Have a wonderful day!

I used to donate blood all the time, but for some reason I get really nervous these days...was asked several times to do double donation or donate plasma, but never felt I could last long enough to do it (I have O- blood so they love me - I also have very accessible veins....)....$30 to donate, really? I usually received goodies/snacks, maybe a t-shirt or wrist band or something like that, but never $30....that should motivate a lot of folks! I guess they're desperate? I have seen an offer for an Amazon Gift card from Red Cross for donating blood recently

I used to donate blood when I was younger, but then I went on vacation to some unusual counties and I became unqualified to give blood. I enjoyed giving blood, I felt useful, like I was helping someone. I wish I could consider donating blood now but I don't think they'll have me. My sister used to donate plasma once a month until she had problems with her thyroid. She said the experience was quite different to giving blood. She said they needed the plasma for some sick kids who needed her plasma which had special antibodies.

I have donated plasma a couple of times. They paid about $30 for the donation at my location too. It felt good to donate because you are helping lives and getting paid too. They say its good for your heart when you donate.

I tried to donate plasma years ago, they only offered me 15 dollars back then, then the amount went down a few dollars after each time you donate is what I was told.  Like I said, that was years ago.  The needle was so large and it was painful so never went back.

I'm not qualified to donate because my iron levels are always low.

I have tried to but I was told they couldn't find my vein and I have a heart murmur. They thought it would be risky for me to do it.

January will mark three years of donating blood twice a week, fifty weeks a year. It has been a nice addition to the income I make off of my two jobs and helped my family breath easier with their spending habits. It also gives me four hours a week to work on nothing but fusion cash and a few applications that I have on my phone. I can't trust public wi fi with my work applications so I actually get paid to sit and catch up on personal mindless money making tasks. It isn't for the faint of heart. I usually see at least one person per visit that gets sick or has blood running down their arm. It is a tidy organization and I buy a twelve shares of stock in the company per year because it is a very profitable business. I also feel that some of the blood makes it to people with real needs.
