The Meaning of the Word Forever
« on: July 03, 2016, 11:17:35 am »
Sometimes, when people say forever, they just mean "too long." Forever is supposed to mean without an ending. I personally don't find it proper to call a prolonged amount of time forever. I think when anybody says forever and actually means "too long" and not "with no ending," he or she just says that figuratively out of anxiety. What do you think of what I just said?

I think you are making too much out of it.  When someone says "forever" it depends what they are talking about - for instance, if you say so and so passed away and he will "rest forever" I think that is the correct usage of the word.  On the other hand, if a person says he or she will "forever" like or dislike a certain item, person, food, etc. I think that is an over statement.  Anyway, that's just my opinion.

I think if you were taking a long car ride and someone said,"it seems like its taking forever to get there",i think you can forgive them for that!!

Forever can be used in so many different ways.  I think it's a silly word because I understand that we experience people, places and things in cycles.  There's a beginning, a middle and an end to everything so the word "forever' doesn't necessarily work out well in my vocabulary.  :)
Have a great day!

I think this is the best definition for forever...even tho here it is replaced by ETERNITY!

ECCL 3:11

New Living Translation
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.
