What is with all the alligators roaming free in FL

Alligators are going crazy in Florida recently.  Did you see the absolutely huge one sited on the golf course in Florida?  Now one was sighted with a human body in his mouth but no other information given.

Recently um no they have always roamed where ever water ways go in florida no matter where they might be that includes gulf courses and such.

WOW that's scary!  I know Florida has gators and the huge lizards.  I know we get snow in PA, but at least not gators or lizards!

Florida is a good warm place for most cold blooded animals... I also remember watching a documentary of how people used to smuggle exotic animals to the states back then.. Not sure about alligators, but I know snakes found a foothold in florida due to people bring animals then dumping them

Lets see, Alligators have always roamed in Fl..  Now they are being seen in town. Hum. Can't be because the homes are encroaching the  alligators home turf. When  a wild animal is used to roaming all over the waterways and a home is built in its way it is going to come into view sooner or later and if it is looking for food the small animals and babies and other humans  are fair game to them.

I heard about this and big one too!! The one on the golf course was gigantic!! They are another reason i don't like Florida!

They're probably trying to get away from all the anacondas loose in the everglades...

I lived in Florida most of my life and the gators have always been free. We go on hikes and see them all the time. Gators and many other wild animals are protected in Florida. You just have to be smart and not go out in the woods or swamps out there because you do not know what may be waiting for you.

Alligators roaming free in Florida isn't exactly new. They're part of the wildlife, and the reason they show up in populated areas often is because their natural habitats are being infringed upon. As long as someone uses appropriate caution, and is mindful of swampy areas, usually there is rarely a problem with alligators.

You are absolutely correct vickysue.  One of the biggest problems in Florida is that there are way too many developers, or should I say greedy developers, who have nothing better to do than build, build, build. 

Black bears 'show up' in back yards and in swimming pools of people living in Orlando.  It happens often.  My husband and I know people who live in Orlando and we hear about the bears all the time.

Whether it's alligators, bears or any other wild life, they were here first. 

I have no problem with some development but at the rate it's going in Florida, it's no wonder they have gators as neighbors.

I saw the video with the gigantic alligator on the golf course; not one with a human body in its mouth.  I hope people don't fall victim to the gators.....YIKES!

I haven't heard any reports of that happening, but as some people have mentioned, we are encroaching on their habitats so humans and gators are going to meet more often.

It isn't for me that is for sure!!  I'll stay in Minnesota.

Yeah...apparently the golf course one is there frequently, but the one with human remains is a bit frightening.

As far as I knew alligators have always roamed in Florida.  The swampy fisherman areas in particular.  It is disturbing that bodies have been found in the mouths of gators recently.  Makes me think of some Dexter body dropping zone.
