Top Misspelled Word by State
« on: May 27, 2016, 07:25:59 am »
In honor of the spelling bee (those words were tough) I saw a report about the top misspelled words by state according to google.

Do you agree with these words? I always have to watch writing/typing definitely versus defiantly but that wasn't the top misspelled word for my state. Do you find yourself typing into google..."How do I spell...."

Um... why is "Gray" a common misspelling? I can only think of two ways to spell it: "Gray" and "Grey". However both spellings are correct, and both refer to the same thing. Although "Gray" is the more common spelling in the US, it doesn't mean that it is the only correct spelling of the word. Unless people in those 3 states are spelling it like "Graiye", this map isn't correct.

Wow!  Look at THAT!  The State of Massachusetts can't spell "Massachusetts!"   :o

This was fun to look at it! I am surprised what words are misspelled here, though. Some states are the same -- leprechaun, beautiful, definitely, desert, vaccum... Got a kick out of Massachusetts!  ;D

I don't know how on par this map is.  Although it made me giggle.  I can relate to the misspelling vaccum and I thought Massachusetts was funny too. Now since I spelled it vaccum in spellcheck it says it's vacuum so I'm even more confused.

I had to chuckle when I saw Minnesota's word is "broccoli".  I can't seem to remember if it has two "c" or two "l" in it.  I type up a menu for work and seem to misspell broccoli every time!

I saw several words in the map that trip me up too......
pneumonia, diarrhea, boutineer are three that I may have to check myself on when I use them
