Preakness
« on: May 22, 2016, 08:24:23 am »
I never heard of this horse race until the last couple years.
Kentucky Derby was the most talked about and the most popular.
There is a third horse race as well.
I heard that a couple of horses had serious injuries and had to be "put down".

I'm surprise that animals rights people aren't saying anything about this.

I was surprised they let a 9 yr old horse run in the race.  I always thought there was age limit like 5- 6 yrs

The three races are called the "Triple Crown."  First race is the "Preakness," second race is the "Belmont Stakes," and the last of the Triple Crown is the "Kentucky Derby."

The horse that died from a heart attack after the race and after being photoed as the winner, was a 9 year old by the name of "Homeboykris."

The other was a filly by the name of "Pramedya."  She was 4 years old and was euthanized on the track due to a break in her right front leg.

Sad day at the races, for sure.  :(

Indeed, it was tragic to learn about the deaths of the two horses. I was unaware of how they died, but thank you for shedding some light on that, BlackSheepNY.

The Belmont Stakes is not far from where I used to live (probably around 3-5 minutes). I may actually take a trip down there this year to see it live.
