What Decade in History Would You Say Had the Best Music?

I haven't asked this question for a while, and I just thought of it again. I would say the 1980s had the best music. What about you?

Interesting question, answers are kind of telling as to people's ages.      Mine is 60's & 70's (early 70's).  I remember as a teenager when my parents complained about my music preferences, I always said to myself, I would keep up with current music.  Well that didn't work out so well.   I still put 60's music on in my house.

I like music from every decade starting with the 40's actually.  But the 60's and 70's are my absolute favorite.  That is the main years I was growing up and love the music however I am just a music lover period and find value in many different types of music.

I would have to go the 70's, the decade when I was born, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are the best bands of all time.

This is actually a difficult question in part because our age and taste in music makes it difficult to give an objective response (I'd like to hear about why a person likes a particular decade other than "just because"). From just my own subjective measures, I'd say the 80s since I grew up head-banging to the glam metal of that era. However if I tried to objectively consider this question, I'd probably say the 70s. It was essentially the last decade before "video killed the radio star" where a musician's looks were just as important as their musical prowess (BTW, that song I quoted is usually considered classic 80s, however it came out in '77 and The Buggles made it big in '79). The lyrics tended to be deeper in meaning and related more to current events of the time. Electronic media was bringing music to more people as well as spreading different genres of music to larger audiences. And many of today's sounds were influenced by the music of this decade.

well I was born in the late 50's,   but I love the 60's music.  Could listen to it forever
