Little or big dogs?
« on: May 01, 2016, 03:51:31 pm »
What do you like better, the small or big breeds?  I have 5 dogs, the smallest is 5 pounds and my biggest is 70!

I had 3 dogs growing up and they were all on the large side. The 1st was an English setter about 60 pounds the second was a black lab at 120 pounds and the last was a chocolate lab at 60-70 pounds. I prefer larger dogs plus small ones I tend to trip over. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

I personally like having a large dog, however, I am concerned about the amount of exercise (and food, LOL) that it requires. As a result, I will settle for a small dog. Despite their size, they can also be a great companion for me (which I really need at this point in my life).

I have always liked the small dogs because I can't handle a big dog.

I used to prefer larger dogs, but my husband prefers  medium sized dogs. We settled  on a Boston Terrier, 28 lbs.
Our dog thinks he is a big dog though!

I've had both, a Old English Sheepdog and now a chihuahua.   It's great having a little lap dog.  He loves to cuddle in my lap when I'm sitting.   I really enjoy all sizes and if I ever live somewhere where I have a lot of land I would have another big dog.  Need the room so they can get enough exercise.

No big dogs for me lol my Shih Tzu is 9 pounds and she is my little baby and loves to be held.  I don't have anything against big dogs just not my thing for dog ownership.

I don't have a dog but am partial to both as long as the little ones aren't "yappers."  They get on my nerves.  If I had the space, I might get a larger dog...like a German Shepard or Boxer.  However, right now we are considering whether we want to take on the responsibility of a dog, both care and expenses.  I am unsure of the commitment...because I do feel it is a commitment I don't take lightly.

Having had both a large and a medium sized dog, I'd have to say that I liked my 180lbs. mastiff a little more... She seemed more intelligent and was much more calm. The 40lbs. terrier mix that I have now I swear has doggy ADHD! Always running around and chewing up anything she can get her teeth into (we joke that she's a terrier mix: part terrier, part goat). However, even though I tend to pull my hair out more with my little terrier now, I've loved all of my dogs.

All dogs are precious, but if I had a dog I would probably have a smaller dog.
