My mother in law has been the demise of my marriage. She is medlesome, manipulative, and a pathological liar. She made my life miserable for many years and I finally had enough. I hope that when my child gets married I am not the same way (I don't think there is anyway possible I could be since I have no emotional or psychological issues.) If you have good inlaws kudos! Yes, I am envious and jealous of those of you that do lol!

Same here!!!! I never thought a mother would try and ruin her sons marriage.  She lies to me all the time and it drives me crazy!!!  We finally had enough and its gonna be 2 years that we have not spoke to her.

I don't have any now so yes I love 'em. When I did have them they were okay I guess. I just hope that my future in-laws will be a pleasure to have and to know.

Im not married yet but when me and my fiance do marry i wont have any problems with my In-laws they are all welcoming and nice. I get alone really well with his mom and sister. As long as i quit getting drunk and calling his home number when he wont answer his cell phone. I cant wake up his mom anymore or she might start having a problem with me. lol Damn Alcohol!

I love my father-in-law, he is super nice, I mean really nice as well as my bro-in-law. But my sis-in-law, seems like she would prefer my husband to be married with his ex-gf than me. Oh well, as long as we don't live in one house I would'nt care. To hell!  ;D

I think it is funny the number of people who like their inlaws compared to the number that do not. I know this is not a very accurate count of the likes and hates since there is not a "control" on the people giving their opinions here in FC, but I find it interesting just the same. I actually struck up a cnversation with my closesest friend girls the other night on this topic. Out of the 6 of them, only 1 actually liked and respected their inlaws, most were okay with the father in law, but nt the mother in law. That really is not saying a lot about us as mother in laws ladies lol!

I know my fathers mother is just awful to my mother, but they agree to disagree and make the best of things. Grandma really just has a problem with my mothers housekeeping and career choice, but that is not for her to judge in the first place! My mother is a professional and does very well for herself and my father. As far a her housekeeping, their house is spotless all of the time! I swear you could not find dust with a white glove test! I think that means grandma is just a bit envious of my Mom!

My mothers mom is really good to my dad. To my knowledge they have always treated each other with respect and gotten along really well. In fact she treats all of her daughter and son in laws very well and equally, just like her children and grandchildren...and a few great grandchildren. I hope that I can mirror my NeeNee when my child gets married and treat their spouse with the kindness and respect that NeeNee does. I certainly do not want to be one of "those" mother in laws!

I refuse to answer this, on the grounds that I may incriminate myself.

NO!!!  We cant believe a thing she tells us and all she wants to do is borrow money.  She accused my daughter, her granddaughter, of stealing when it was her and her only daughter who did the stealing and they stole from the one they are accusing.  Oh so much to grip about but I dont want to ruin my day.

My husband finally see's the trouble she is trying to cause and has decided he's no longer her money machine.  To this day she has not said she was sorry and she continues to ask for money.  He has not visited her in almost 2 years now. It is sad but enough is enough.

i feel so bad for the people that have posted that they don't like their in-laws, or have a bad relationship with them because nowhere in my whole extended family is there someone with such a situation. i absolutely love my in-laws. my mother-in-law is the sweetest woman i've ever met and is an exceptional cook (i think i've gained a solid 20 lbs since being with her son!) and at this point in my life i am closer to my father-in-law than i am to my own father. even my brother-in-law is a great friend and a wonderful uncle! unfortunately, i don't know his wife very well but i am sure that there will be great relationship there as well once we become better acquainted!   ;D

ooh dont get me started on inlaws!! mine are the worst. I was lucky enough to find my husband's father after years of searching, he has not seen him since he was a baby. We are going to meet him & his family in November!! They seem like wonderful people. His mom on the other hand...kept his father from seeing him, allowed his brother & sister to be raped by her boyfriend, abused & neglected all of her kids, and is on top of that completely crazy. His brothers are both in prison for trying to distribute child pornography, and his sister has lost all of her kids due to neglect & abuse. She is one of those people that "pretends" to be an animal lover and preaches about being kind to animals, but when dcf removed her kids from her disgusting 2 bedroom apartment they found like 60 neglected & abused animals living in cages in their own filth. So yeah we have absolutely no contact with his mom's side of the family. And they dont like me because I was always the one who reported them to authorities ;D

The better question in my case is, do they like me? I have done everything for my fiancee, but in the end it feels as if they look down on me and think  of me as a bad person.

I may not have the best job, or any at the moment. But I try and do what I can to find one and help her with everything she goes through, along with everything I have to manage. I love her with all my heart and only want the best for her and for us, is that so hard for them to see past a few mistakes in my past or my pitfalls with my education and work? I would never do anything to hurt her yet they treat me like a criminal and like I am not good enough, is it not for her to decide? I mean we have been through a lot together but we move forward together.
