Pets in Restaurants
« on: April 01, 2016, 07:22:43 pm »
Would you ever take your pet inside a restaurant and expect to be seated?

I'm not referring to service animals.  I understand some people need to have their service animal with them at all times.

Apparently, there's a problem, here in Utah, where people expect to be served when they bring their pet with them.  I understand the restaurant owner has the right to ask if it's a service animal.

Some people lie in order to sit down to eat when their pet is with them.

Would you do that?

If I really want that much time with my pet I would order my food....to go... so other people don't have to deal with my special friend while they're eating dinner.

no i would not expect to be seated I think animals and food have no place together.. unless it specificaly has a place out side you can curb your animal.

I would not expect to be seated in a restaurant, I have seen many people eating ice cream outside on tables with their dogs.  I have 5 dogs, and we do go places (walks, pet stores), but I would never think to take anyone with me when I'm going out to eat anything.

I may enjoying dining with my pet, but I'm pretty sure no one else wants to, especially since my pet is a loud parrot.

Most public places like Restaurants only allow pets if the person is blind or disabled. That's pretty much all I know.

I think pet dogs are OK in outdoor restaurants where they can be tied to a table or chair near their owners. If they start barking they would have to leave but if they are pretty quiet, I don't see why having them around should be a problem.

I agree, outside tables are different.  As long as the pet is not disturbing other patrons I have no issue with them being outside.  After all, many folks are walking their pets on the sidewalk right by the outdoor seating.   I personally, wouldn't have an issue with small pets being with their owners inside some restaurants, but that's me.   I understand it would be a problem for most folks.

Unless it's a service dog I think pets belong outside a restaurant.

Hi Sherry in Utah and everyone else out there in Fusion Cash World:

No offense. but I sure am glad I don't live in Utah!   No, I would not take my pet (if I had one) into any restaurant and expect to get served food while others eat their dinner!
Number one:  That is just plain rude.....and 2.  It is also unsanitary for everyone else involved who is eating at that restaurant.
And 3.  The smell of the pet would be bad!
I speak from experience!
When I was thirteen years old, my family and I went to go visit my cousin who had married a woman who loved animals so much that she made my cousin Eugene buy her a whole bunch of cats and dogs.
Anyways, we had all been invited to dinner over at my cousin's house.  And, as I and my family sat down to eat.....my cousin Eugene and his wife Pat sat down at the table and,  not only that, but they also called their dogs and cats to come and to sit down with them on chairs as if they were people to come and to eat with all of us!
Needless to say, I was appalled, but because I was only l3 years old and taught to respect my elders.....I did not say anything about it, but thought to myself, "Man, what a sick woman!"  What kind of a woman eats with animals inside her house!
And, of course, my family and I never went back to visit my cousin Eugene and his wife Pat at their house,
ever again!

Is helper pets are different. They need to be treated differently  Went to Walmart and a small dog had dropped a poo by the cash register she had to shutdown the line.  No I don't feel you need to take any disturbances to others when you go to a restaurant.

I would never eat in a restaurant that allowed that, unless a service animal.

This is around other folks eating, and pets carry germs...and can be unsafe occasionally, pee and poop freely, and they will jump on folks occasionally.  Plus our dinner may just be what attracts them over.

Pets are not our children, though many folks seem to think they are.

Enjoy your pet at home, please.

(There should be signs outside that pets are allowed in....not talking about the service animal etc.)
