Easter Recipe
« on: March 23, 2016, 07:01:18 am »
Does anyone have  a special Easter recipe that they would like to share? I am running out of ideas :-\ Breakfast or dinner anything please would help. I am trying to open up to new ideas instead of eating a roast every Easter.

We often do a ham, but they are getting spendy!

You might google some casserole ideas?

I am typically the dessert bringer so I dont have to do the "real food", lol.

We have ham, sweet potatoes, rolls, deviled eggs, potato salad, green salad, 1 or 2 vegetables, monkey bread, and desert.  Pies, cake, depends.

I've been planning on making this for a while.  It's not an Easter dish because I don't celebrate Easter so I don't have any traditional Easter dishes.  I don't even like grits but this sounded really good so I want to try it.

CHeesy grits casserole with sausage
1lb sausage
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 half teaspoon paprika
1 pinch sugar
1 finely crushed garlic clove
1 tablespoon tabasco sauce
1/4 cup of unsalted butter
2 cups of water
2 cups whole milk
1 cup grits
3 eggs
2 cups of cheddar cheese

Brown the sausage with garlic, drain and place to the side

Combine water, milk, salt and butter in large pot and bring to a boil.

Slowly add grits, whisking continuously and lower temperature to a simmer. Cook for 20-30 mins., keep whisking every few mins. until final mixture is a creamy texture with no lumps

Remove from the heat, add sausage and remaining ingredients and whisk to combine. Pour into a 3 quart baking dish (preferably glass) and top with cheese. Bake at 350 until cheese is browned.
