The only experience I had, was as a kid growing up my best friend had one. He used to feed him peanut butter and we would die laughing as he rolled on the floor pawing his mouth trying to get it off the roof of his mouth. I will never forget that scene from 60 years ago. NO, it was not cruel, he would come back begging for more when he finished.

I never had a boxer, but I remember my aunt and uncle had one.  He was such a good dog, he would let my cousin and me do almost anything to him and he was so layback!  I can still see us playing with him in the backyard.  I loved that dog and wanted one, but for some reason my mom was afraid of all dogs, so that was the answer when I asked. ☹. Let us know if you get one.

Boxers are boisterous, happy and playful.  You'll have some training to do because they tend towards "separation anxiety" and if not "crate trained," will probably chew on some chair legs or other things around your home.  LOL, mine did, but he took to his crate training very well!  They're truly big babies that just want to be with you ALL the time.  The first 2 or 3 years are the hardest because they're just like toddlers that get in to EVERYTHING, LOL.  Fun dogs, but they do need your watchful eye, love, and training.

Thank you all. We did put a deposit on one yesterday. It is only 2 weeks old. We will be getting it when it is 6 weeks old. We do plan to do some training  with it and crate train as well. We have two children - a 13 year old autistic child and a 7 year old. We do have another dog, an 8 year old peek-a-poo. I know it will be an adjustment for the dog we have now. My 7 year old is very high strung so I do believe the boxer will enjoy playing with him outside. I've heard alot of great things about Boxers so we are going to give it a try.

Congratulations on your new family member.  I've never had a boxer myself.  I did visit with 3 of them for a week while visiting a family member when I was about 13.  I fell in love with the breed and decided then I wanted one.  Haven't had the opportunity yet band after our last dog (A Jack Russel) I don't think our family has the time for any breed right now.  Good Luck with your puppy.

Humans seem like a great breed too, but it depends on what you get. Some kids are a dream to raise and others can be a nightmare. Sorry, but it's the same with dog breeds.

I love boxers!! They are (one of) my favorite breeds...No, I don't have one, nor do I think I'll ever own any dog. I am more of a cat person. However I do love dogs...most animals actually.
