I love to travel, but generally prefer to fly unless it's a short trip. I have never really enjoyed road trips by car. I sometimes go by Amtrak when it's not a long trip and I do enjoy the ride of passing through various cities. Perhaps if I had children, I might enjoy the car ride; as they generally seem to.

I don't travel as much as I would like, but I have a couple trips planned this year.

We are retired now and don't go on many trips any more but we used to when our children were younger, and I agree with you, it is one of the best ways ever to bond as a family. We have taken camping trips to Alaska, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as well as many sites within the U.S.  with our kids and we had an absolute blast on all our trips.

I go on as many as I can afford!  Heading back to Hawaii in June for 10 glorious days in Paradise.  Was there in September '14 with my daughter.  My husband and I took a road trip out West last August.  My husband is disabled which makes it a little hard for him to travel but after loosing so many close family members the past couple of years, I've decided to start knocking some of the things off my bucket list that I have always wanted to do or see.
Have a wonderful day!
