Wish me luck
« on: March 01, 2016, 08:49:56 am »
Hey FC Friends -- I have decided that at the "ripe old age" of 61, I want to go back to work.  I am just not cut out for the retired life.  My husband is in the beginning stages of dementia, and I know that in a few years I will need to care for him, so now's the time to do something for me!  I have interviews tomorrow and Thursday -- so wish me luck!

Thanks

Wow I will certainly think happy and successful thoughts and prayers for you.  I am 62 and can't imagine wanting to go back to work but then it would be physically difficult for me to do so anyway.  Best of luck to you and your husband.

Good luck on your "job" hunt and to be honest you are probably more valuable at 61 than some of those young kids!!!

Sorry to hear about your husband, but hats off to you for wanting to return to the workforce. I am a retired educator, but I still  substitute teach a few days a week and I enjoy it. Good luck on your interview.

How wonderful that you are thinking of going back to work! When I was in my late 20's and early 30's, I had a really successful career in recruitment, and I loved it! We used to recruit all sorts of age groups into all kinds of jobs, but I always felt that the older someone was, the more likely they were to stay in a job. The job you want in your 40's, 50's and 60's is not the same kind of job that you want in your 20's. Older workers are more content, they are more stable and reliable. I'm sure which ever employer you chose, they will be lucky to have you.

Good for you!  I'm sure you will find the perfect job and seriously older workers are more competent, hard working, and reliable then a lot of the younger generation.  I am so very sorry to hear about your husband.  I watched my mother struggle with that.  Good luck and God Bless you. ❤️
