I just started watching the show last November.  Had heard about it off and on each year, but I didn't want to start watching it right in the middle of the story.  I tried to rent the DVDs from my library, but they were in such high demand that I could not get them, but only reserve them -- and they weren't coming available in sequential order, so that was the same problem all over again!

I finally saw that the past seasons were available through my Amazon Prime subscription.  So, once I finished binge watching The Sopranos (another that I had never watched before) last fall, I put Downton on my queue list.  I watched seasons 1 - 5 on a marathon pace during the 10 days I was off work following gallbladder surgery.  Then in December, I watched them a second time after I convinced my wife to watch the pilot episode knowing it would get her hooked.  My master evil plan was to get her hooked so that we would both be able to watch the final season together on broadcast TV.  I think we made it through the season five finale about 2 or 3 days before season six premiered last month, so it was perfect timing!

Now I am waiting to see how everything wraps up and wondering what I will find to fill the empty space once it is done!

I am surprised it is ending. Only one episode left! It feels like there is way more story to tell. I wonder why they are ending it.
