Being Pulled Over

I have been stopped a few times, but most of the time, it was a verbal warning not to speed. I received a speeding ticket only once. And let's keep it that way, LOL.

The last time I was pulled over was for speeding.  And I was.
I had pulled a double shift the day before, from 6am to 11pm, and then pulled my regular shift that day, from 6 to 3.
I made the bank deposit and was on my way back to the store to drop off paperwork.

Just driving along, country road, thinking how much I wanted to be home when I spotted the cop. Took my foot off the gas pedal, and thought, "Oh man, you're in it now."

Cop stopped me, asked me if I knew I was doing 72 in a 40mph zone.

Before I even thought, I said, "Ha! I must have seen you first, because I was doing 86 when I spotted you!"

He did a double-take, and started laughing. 

No ticket, after I explained to him what was going on.  Just told me to go home and get some rest.
He walked away chuckling and shaking his head.

lol.  That is hilarious.

I know that most of the officer  are only doing their job to up hold the law .

I was let off the last time I was pulled over which really surprised me.  I was going 90 in a 55 limit.  I guess maybe because the officer who pulled me over was out of his jurisdiction.  He just told me to slow down.  The last ticket I got I got put on the diversion program to where if I went six months without another offense, the ticket would be forgiven.  I was good for over six months!

My friends called it a Chris moment, as in "Nobody but you, Chris."  lol

I have gotten let of easy whenever I have gotten pulled over. I guess it is a girl thing.

As long as it is a male cop. lol.  I use to know a cop that worked in the town I live in and she told me she had pulled over men that had cried to try to get out of a ticket.  I thought that was hilarious.  I know women do that but never would have thought a man would unless he was drunk and when they are drunk they cry about anything anyway. lol

I would think if you said anything like "please don't write me a ticket" it could be used against you and construed entirely differently than you would like so my advice would be to say nothing!

How could it be used against you?  I got kind of smart one time when I got stopped.  I lived beside of a different cop and he talked to the one that stopped me about it and he told him what I said.  The one that lived beside me told me in would be in my best interest if I was stopped again to sit there with my mouth shut and not to open it unless it was to say "yes sir".  I looked at him and said "well I guess I won't be saying anything" lol.  In my defense that was in my young and stupid days

Not running your mouth is good advice but I am not going to sit there and refuse to answer them either.

Almost 50 years ago, when my husband had just gone to Vietnam and I had a brand new baby at home, I was a mess of emotions.  I had just attended a meeting of the Overseas Wives' Club at the Red Cross Center, and was on my way home.  It was night.  I was alone, and I noticed a car following close behind me. We were in a secluded part of town.  I didn't realize it was a police car.  I changed lanes, and it changed lanes.  I changed back and it followed.  I was now getting uncomfortable, then the policeman turned on his lights and pulled me over.  I rarely speed, and didn't think I was going over the speed limit.  When the guy started asking me questions, I started crying.  I was shaking and a mess.  My best friend at the time was nine months pregnant and her husband had just been killed in Vietnam, so my nerves were raw. He wanted to get in the car with me to calm me down.  I told him, how did I know he was a real cop?!  He did actually get in the car, which was crazy on my part, but I was young and naive and not thinking straight.  He finally got out and let me go on my way, but that is a vivid memory.

You don't know how good it makes me feel to know I'm not the only one!

I must me on the minority on this because I have been pulled over many, many times in my driving career with the most while being in my reckless 20s.

The fact that the cop may have a camera on him doesn't make a difference in the way I talk or act. I have always acted respectfully and done what the cops told me to do...even when I knew they were in the wrong.

Camera or no camera has no bearing on my actions, but I do feel safer as a citizen that cops are being recorded and held accountable.
