Asking a buffet question.
« on: February 03, 2016, 10:36:24 am »
Do you eat just enough or do you get your moneys worth at the buffet restaurant? I seen a tv show on food buffets and they asked that question. I thought that it was a good question for fusioncash bloggers lol I like going to the buffets on coupon, the casinos has the buffets that costs 20.00 per person yummy Have a gr8 day  :present:

I don't usually go to "buffets"  but when I do I usually eat just enough.  Just because it's an "all you can eat" kind of thing doesn't mean we should make pigs out of ourselves!!!

When I go to buffets, which admittedly is not as regularly as I would like, I try to eat the foods which I can't cook at home. I'm a pretty good cook, but I stress a little about fish, crabs and shrimps because of the nightmare which would ensue if I don't cook it properly. To be honest I feel a little out of my depth cooking anything from the sea! I noticed a lady the other week at a Chinese buffet who were specializing in crab legs that one night. I am not exaggerating when I say she had a pile of crab legs about a foot high from her plate. I couldn't help but stare because it was a buffet - I mean, she could go back up to get more as many times as she liked, but she still piled her plate really high. I was slightly embarrassed for her.

My dad was an organic chemist, so he had always gotten into a habit of trying to get perfect yields from his reactions. This philosophy spilled into his life in general... Whether it was shopping at a mall or eating at a restaurant, he always looked to get his money-worth in the shortest period of time. Thus he had taught me to not only finish all of the food on my plate that I had grabbed in the buffet line, but also the "need" to make at least 2 trips to the buffet (for only 1 trip would be a waste of money).

As I've grown older, however, I've drifted away from this way of thinking, esp. after being diagnosed with diabetes. The way I look at it, if going up multiple times and eating more than you need leads to health issues in the future, then those mulitple trips will actually cost you more money in the long run. So just eating enough IS getting the best value for my money.

I only eat enough to be full, but I like to eat foods that I normally don't cook or have never tried.

I confess, that when I go to a buffet, I usually eat beyond full.  It isn't so much from the standpoint of getting my money's worth as it is having so many choices and not being limited to what a particular main course comes with on a menu.  I often walk out feeling like a stuffed pig!

Usually that isn't a HUGE problem, but there is this buffet restaurant at our local favorite amusement park...  THERE (because of amusement park food prices) I DO sometimes think about what it might take to get my money's worth!!!  The problem is that it takes a long time and a lot of walking around after that meal before I can safely go onto one of so many world class roller coasters!  It's worse than the "wait an hour after eating before you go swimming" rule!!!

I eat just enough, sometimes i may try something different that I don't normally eat at home. I like to sample small portions of a variety of items, so for me it's just enough.

In the past I eat way too much.  These days I would not want to go to a buffet.  I don't want or need to eat that much.

I don't eat at many buffets because I like to directly order my food and have it fresh cooked at that very moment.  However, I have found that to get your money's worth you need to go directly to the higher priced section and get plenty of it...for example, prime rib, steak, talapia, crab legs, shrimp, whatever.  Don't waste your money on much salad, jello, etc.  You can always get these type foods.

If the price is right, go for it. Take a tot bag and some plastic containers to take some food out. Do not let the waitress see you! Place the food on your plate and then when no one is around...do your work. You can save some money on your food bill this way.

When I go to a buffet I usually get my fill of food. Even when I do not eat much as i'd like to, it is nice to have a variety of options.

I try not to stuff myself but sometimes I can't help it and put a hurting on myself.  I hate the feeling of being overly full but sometimes it sneaks up on me when I don't intend on eating that much.  I love buffets because of the variety.
