Adult coloring books
« on: January 17, 2016, 11:16:14 am »
Has anyone purchased the adult coloring books and markers. They are advertised on tv for about 19.99 and I am hearing in the stores they are about the same price. Has anyone found any less expensive books and markers?

I have sseen those commercials too and have recently seen versions of those items in stores for much less. I think i saw them at walmart or kmart, oh and i think walgreens, so I am sure you can find them now everywhere for cheaper than those on tv. You can also google for them and print off pages to color.

I saw one for Birds and Blooms, I believe, in a local grocery store. It was about $10.99, I think.

I may ask for one for my birthday.  Fun!

they're around 10 dollars in the Walmart stores here I think.  I've never bought one but I do have the coloring app on my phone.  It's very relaxing though.

There are coloring books under $10. At my Walmart there are books called Color Art for everyone. There are about 8 different ones and they are 4.43 each. The pages are perforated so they can be taken out.

That sounds silly to me, and a gimmick, I would go buy bugs bunny coloring book and pay less, or better yet go to thrift store and pay a nickel. People and their gimmicks. People who have a lot of money probably buy them though.

It's a nice idea but I can't see myself spending that much to color!

I bought one for my Mom...a mother's theme.

I was surprised at how intricate the drawings were in her book.
To me, in order for coloring to be relaxing and a de-stressor as the books are meant to be, the pictures need to be easy to color.

The pictures in Mom's book have many many tiny tiny spaces to color and it was hard for Mom because of the intricate detailed pictures.

We DID have fun coloring together however; but that was because we colored together and laughed and talked while we colored.

I don't think she has touched it since I was home.

I have a friend who does this as therapy. For me there is too much detail in some of these books that just turns me off.

I think about getting one, but I guess I would rather be painting a gourd.  Or doing some other craft.

I went to a few stores this week and found that $5.00 below has several adult coloring
books for $4.00, but the detail is too small. Barnes & Noble book store has so many adult coloring
Books, large and small detail. I will probably buy one if their books, also meijers has some books.

When I saw the adult coloring book commercial I instantly thought - Gimmick.  Smart gimmick though... people will spend money on just about anything.  I for one enjoy coloring.  With my children.  I can't see myself sitting down coloring for relaxation.  I suppose there may be a time in my life when I do.  Thank the Lord that time hasn't come yet.
